Girls only please...?

I am 11 weeks pregnant and im constipated, i know its gross but i havent went in like a week or longer...should i call my doctor? It is my first pregnancy and i just dont know if i should bother them with that...

Answer:
drink lots of water.
"Drown the enemy"
LOL, that's the saying. Fiber soaks up water and helps move things smoothly through your system.
Eat plenty of fruit(with skin on as much as possible) like apples, grapes, and oranges..well, don't eat orange peel!
Lots of vegetables and whole grain breads. As well as a small bowl of bran cereal with breakfast.
My doctor at about 8 weeks prescribed a liquid laxative that is supposedly safe for pregnant women, lactulose, but I only took it once. Seemed much stronger than just a regular laxative pill.
Maybe try a metamucil tablet a few times a day. On the bottle it'll say 5 tablets up to three times a day! 15 tablets doesnt' seem good to me. But maybe just a tablet or two twice a day with plenty of water, water is key, should help keep you moving.
Good luck with this!
YOU ARE ONLY 11 WEEKS AND THIS IS HAPPENING ALREADY??! YOUR IN TROUBLE, GIRL. YOU'D BETTER GO SEE THE DR.
Drink lots of water... prune juice... anything to "loosen up"... if you are able to exercise, do that also..if nothing works, call your doc.
GO TO THE DOCTOR! You should be going at least once a day.
I would definately give your doctor a call. They can tell you what you can and can't take to relieve your constipation. Feel better and best of luck with your pregnancy.
a week? thats a long time
call your doctor, he'll perscribe you some laxatives
You should call you doctor immediately. It is a problem.
you can take stool softeners. I had this same problem when I was prego. I took Dulcolax, but nothing with a laxative in it. Stool Softener only. Per my doc it is ok to take 2 in the morning and 2 at night. I had to do this for just about my entire pregnancy. Also if you can eat nectarines, they naturallly help with this problem.
Call and ask him what you should take.
Prune Juice can help
call you do you can take metamucil for fiber(which helps you go) you can also take colace or milk of magnesia tablets. these were on the list my ob gave me. i know how you feel it's like you can't go forever and then when you finally can you REALLY gotta go
I know that they say not to drink caffene, but a little won't hurt. Drink a mug or two of coffee and eat something with it and it works as a laxative. You'll most likely poo after that.
you can do - but to be honest initially there is nothing that can be done - I've been through it too.

Try liquorice sweets
Can get over the counter Calfig (anything with figs in it)
Drink lots of water / Pure orange juice if you can stomach it

Dont let it persist though - its your hormones sorting themselves out - if it starts to hurt in your tummy seek medical advice
This is not a problem. A great percentage if not all pregnancies go through this. Just be aware, it will hit you when you least expect it and want it to and you will wish you were still constipated. haha
If you feel you need to, call your doctor. If you want to wait on it, make sure to keep your fluids up, get plenty of rest, and don't stress about it too much. By the way, you're never bothering the doctor, they never hold grudges. That's what they're there for, anyway,

Good luck!
yes you should call your doctor dont think of it as bothering them hell thats their job to assist you if your having any problems with your baby. Take Care!!
yes, call your doctor. They will be able to tell you which medications you can safely take to relieve constipation. It is also possible that they may want to switch your prenatal vitamins or take you off iron, because they can cause constipation.
Don't hesitate to call your doctor with any questions you have.that is why they are there.
Good Luck...and congratulations on the baby!
My doctor told me to take some Milk of Mag. Make sure to drink plenty of water with it. It works pretty fast and will clean you out with out harming the baby.
call your doctor, he can prescribe medication that is safe for you. One of the wonderful side effects of pregnancy.
call the doctor- when in doubt about ANYTHING call- they will tell you what to do- they know its your first and they know yur concerned about everything- but you need a laxitive, and they can recommend a safe one for you and your baby-
by the way CONGRADULATIONS!!
If you have been taking an iron supplement that can do it.
You probably don't have to mae an appt. to see our doctor
but I would reccoment calling the office and talking to him or his nurse and ask for a recomendation.
Try eating foods high in fiber and protein. or try the activa yogurt. If you eat a lot of breads and pastas it can back you up.
After that long, the stool may become impacted in your colon, so yeah, I'd call the dr. You may want to discuss taking a stool softener daily to keep from getting this backed up in the future. In the meantime, I suggest an enema.
Absolutely, call your doctor. This is actually a very common problem for pregnant women. There is no need for you to suffer like this. Your doctor can help you with over the counter or prescription medications that are safe for you and your baby. Good luck to you!
Eat something with a lot of fiber in it, when I got constipated during pregnancy I would eat shredded wheat or something like that and it always cleared me up, try prune juice or even apple juice. if nothing works then call your doctor, but seeing as it has already been a week without a bowel movement i would call your doctor and see what he/she says about how to fix it
Eat something with high fiber. Then after that nothing happens. Call a doctor.
A lot of times pregnant mothers get constipated. yes, it does seem nasty, but its normal. if you havent "went" in a week, i would go to the doctor. you dont want to take any medicine to help with that before talking to your doctor. That way the baby isnt harmed.
its natural (from what i've read) but it sucks. so go get it checked out.
good luck n happy pooping! =P
Definately talk to the Dr ASAP if you haven't been able to go in a week...the Dr. needs to know about this and won't think it's a silly or unimportant question! You and your baby are important! Don't ever feel bad about pestering the Dr. They are used to it and expect it :)

Good luck!
sorry to say but constipation may get worse during pregnancy..make sure you stay away from starches..drink warm fluids like alot of tea..it's okay to take milk of magnesia while you're pregnant too..be sure you're open with your doctor about everything that has to do with your pregnancy..that's their job..they may think it's weird if you never bring up constipation because it's very common to women who are pregnant
hey girl, i have a two month old baby so i know what you are going thru. Ok you need to go to walmart, or the pharmacy or whatever and get stool softener. Sounds really gross, but i promise it makes you feel so much better. I think its Phillips or something. The off brand works just fine too. Start off taking two, then if that still doesnt work then try 3 the next time you take it. This is better than exlax cuz that causes the opposite almost, but this actually just makes things go smoother. by the way, that guy was a complete *** whole, whatever his name is. Dont listen to him. He's a jerk. well hope ive helped, later, Jes
