Does medicaid during pregnancy end after you have the baby or when you aren't financiually elgible?

we got medicaid for my pregnancy because my husband was unemployed. he recently found a job but our insurance through his work doesn't start for a few more weeks. should i call and tell medicaid that we're making more money now even though they may cancel our coverage.

i dont' want to have to pay for the delivery out of my own pocket and maybe medicaid will never know that my husband is working now.

Answer:
Similar situation with my last pregnancy. Hubby was transitioning out of military and therefore no insurance. Got on medicaid. When insurance kicked in and we were making more money, I informed the medicaid office but they didn't cancel it. In fact, that question is in the faq section on the medicaid homepage. Medicaid continued for 60 days post partum for me and 1 year for the girls. Best of luck.
**LaMOMS is the medicaid program here in Louisiana

"If my income or household changes, will I lose my health coverage through LaMOMS? Back to Top
Once enrolled, a pregnant woman will keep this coverage until 60 days after her pregnancy ends, regardless of income or household changes." I would just check with the health unit to see their policy.
I am on medicaid and I get to keep it until 3 months after I have the baby. The baby stays on it for a year. They shouldnt take it since your already on it and your pregnant.
you can still get madicaid until after the birth of your baby.
When we were making more money I immediately notified them. They required that I come in and show everything again as far as paystubs and stuff like that. They cancelled the medicaid but when it is cancelled the medicaid extension kicks in which means no matter how much we are making it extends for another 2 yrs. I think even after that you are eligible for something that requires some amount of money but very little. Just call and randomly ask.
Technically, yes you should call them.
But let's say you don't. It usually ends after delivery.for you. It may depend on your state, but here they automatically cover your newborn for the first year.if you don't contact them about the new insurance.
I was supposed to contact them when i got married ( i got married when i was 5 months pregnant). I never did, and they even had the DATE i was going to get married, and would send me stuff in my married name. They are not good about following up i guess! If you're an honest abe, you should report the income. But hey, money is money. You could always "forget"

I never used it after i got married only because my husbands insurance covered 100% anyway. But no, they won't know unless you tell them!
It is best that you report to your case worker that your husband is employed but your insurance does not kick in right away, otherwise you are fraudulently receiving government benefits. The Department of Social Services is able to pull income reports from the Department of Labor and find out that he is working so it is in your best interest to report it.
You need to call and tell them. Because 1st off if they do pay for the delivery and such and they find out that your husband has a job even afterwards. They will make you pay it back and you, or your husband could be facing jail time for not telling them.

The best thing to do is call and tell them. You might still be able to continue to have medicaid even if your husband is working. I had medicade with my pregnancy as well.

My husband was working a full time job, and he had insurance. If you do qualify to still have it.. What will happen is the insurance will pay it's part and medicade will pick up the rest of the bill.

Also, You will still have medicade coverage on you for about..1,2, or 3 mths after..It's something like that and you should be able to start some sort of insurance program for your child. My son had ArKids 1st...But I don't know if you live in the state of arkansas..So I really don't know what to say to you on that.

It would be best though if you did call and tell them so you won't face jail time. Because if they do find out that you didn't tell them they will make you pay it back and you might end up having to go to jail. So just to be safe I would. Just go up there and try to requallify.

With your husband just starting the job it might not even effect it or anything..It just all depends on how much he makes before taxes and such. Anyway just go up to where you signed up for it and talk to them about it. I am sure that they will find some way of helping you.

Best of luck. :)
you are covered until you have the baby. dont say anything to them because they are going to drop you two months after the baby is born anyways. its like regular insurance, since you started treatment on medicaid you finish on medicaid. just let your medicaid run out then get on your husbands insurance
Medicaid ends AFTER you and your baby's 1st dr. visit. After that, you will have a letter sent to you asking for more information on your family to apply for medicaid. They will decide if you are eligible for medicaid, but any time you or your husband has employment insurance, they cancel you out of the system. But only you and your baby carry medicaid until the dr. visit. I had the same issue. But medicaid will definitely take care of your hospital stay for your baby and you. (they will send you a duplicate bill that says what they have paid, you don't shell out a dime) So good luck on the baby and your family.
I would imagine that medicaid might vary from state to state, but from personal experience in Illinois When I was on medicaid with when I got pregnant my eligibility was for 1yr before they re-evaluated. After that yr period was up I was still eligible because of income. Just because your husband is working again doesnt necessarily mean that you will automatically be ineligible. If he is the only one working and there at now technically 3 of you. you may very well remain eligible when they re-evaluate your case.
honestly you dont have any income your husband does, it cost alot to have a baby these days use your best judgment
There are a lot of great answers here; but, unfortunately, the rules may differ depending on the state you live in. Medicaid is a state medical assistance program that is supported by federal dollars.

The right thing to do is go down to your Medicaid district/local office and discuss your situation with them. Does your husband's new employment offer insurance coverage? - that might make a difference. You don't need to be afraid to talk to a Medicaid case worker, they really want to help you and if there is a way, they'll do everything they can.

Medicaid is meant to be a safety net. For the Medicaid program to continue to function for all of us, we all have to do our part.
If you tell them you are making more money it will cancel . But I think you will have it as long as you are approved for. They usually do it in 6 month intervals so you will have it until that time is up. If you have it just for pregnancy related causes, it will cancel after you have baby. I would try to keep it so it will cover delivery. Good luck
