I am having a new baby and my daughter. Is worrying about that I won't pay attention to her...What should I do?
Answer:
This can be a very hard time for older siblings, as I have five children. How old is your daughter?? Including her in every aspect of the pregnancy that you can will help a great deal. Things like letting her go with you to the appointments, letting her help decide a name, allowing her to pick out the outfit that the baby comes home from the hospital in, decorating the nursery(if you have one), etc..Then she will feel a part of the whole process and start looking forward to the birth of her new brother or sister. You could also set aside one afternoon for just the two of you each week or every other week, and continue it even after the baby is born. That time should be spent on nothing but you and her, not the baby. Maybe grab a bite to eat somewhere, get ice cream, get your nails done or a pedicure(depending on her age, of course), go to a bookstore, go to the mall, or whatever else you both like to do and just hang out. And most of all, just make sure you always tell her how much she means to you and how that you don't know what you would do if she wasn't there. Good luck and congrats!!
