What is breach position?

There are a few types of breech, but basically it's when the baby is not head-down facing the birth canal.
Babies can be butt first, feet first, one foot up one foot down..sideways. There are technical names for all of the positions, but I can't remember them all ;)

It is where the baby's bottom, not their head, comes out first.
When the baby is backwards. We used to have to pull the calves when they were like that. Not something for humans though I hope.

Breech position is when the baby's head is towards the top of your uterus, with legs and butt downwards. Most babies are in a breech position at some time during pregnancy. It is only of concern nearing term, as a breech baby can have more difficulties during delivery. Breech babies can turn up until the onset of labour. There are exercises and other methods of persuading baby to turn naturally; also doctors can try to manually turn the baby. Some babies, like my 3rd, adopt the breech position at about 30 weeks and just don't want to move. You can attempt vaginal delivery with a breech baby, but there is a risk of an emergency caesarean section if problems arise during labour. I had a planned c-s as bub was breech. Some doctors are willing to deliver breech babies vaginally, whilst others will not attempt it and recommend c-s as soon as they discover baby is breech.
my husband was born breach. He was born bottom first. His mum says they had to keep straightening his legs out after cause he was used to having them up around his neck all the time in the womb. He was a chronic toe sucker for a while there.
