Do you ovulate 14 days after your period or 14 days before your period?
Answer:
most woman ovulate 14 days after the first day of your period...for example if your period started on Feb. 3rd you would most likely ovulate on Feb.17th...Most woman usually ovulate for 4 days
There is no way to know the exact day, unless you chart your morning temperatures also known as BBT charting. Everybody is different, they say if you have "the normal" 28 day cycle then you would on cycle day 14. But that isn't always true.alot of things effect ovulation.like stress, illness, being over or under weight and things like that. There is also other body signs that you can use to know that ovulation is near. Like checking your cervical fluid, position, and opening. I would suggest reading a book called "Taking Charge of Your Fertility", you can get it in the library or you can buy it in a book store. I've found that book to be the most helpful with questions like that
14 to 16 days AFTER your period good luck
Well you won't know for 100% what day you ovulate unless you are charting your basal body temperature. During charting my BBT, one cycle I ovulated on day 16 and had my period on day 33 which would have been halfway through my cycle. However the month before that I ovulated on day 19 and had my period on day 37 which would have been 2 days later than midway through my cycle. If you are textbook regular (28 days and most people aren't) then I say if you started your period on the 29th (cycle day 1) then you should ovulate anywhere from February 7th to February 15th (cycle day 10 to cycle day 18 which was figured by me guessing your luteal phase is also normal and could be from 10-18 days).
The book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler is awesome. There are 3 basic ways you can determine if you are ovulating: Cervical fluid, waking temp, and cervical position. I found that charting my temp and cervical position were the most difficult ways of determining if I was ovulating.
Yeah, most women do ovulate 14 days after the first day of bleeding; however, if you get stressed out at anytime during those first 14 days it could push your ovulation date back which means your next period will be late. From the time you ovulate you will start your next period in 12-16 days. I find that the easiest way to determine if you are ovulating is when your cervical discharge/ fluid is eggwhite, typically stretchy and/or slippery.
Keep in mind that you can get pregnant up to 5 days before you ovulate b/c this fluid helps house sperm until the egg is released (up to 5 days) and you can get pregnant 2 days after ovulation.
I highly recommend this book-- it can both help you get pregnant and also serve as a natural birth control (encase you don't want kids right now.) Trust me, I have an 8 month old.
