I found out that i have hpv.. not the std strand .. but its precancer?

does anyone know if it will cause me to become infertile or cause it to be really hard to become pregnant.. i am still having normal periods and the doc said its not cancer yet it just could become that way.. any advice please?

Answer:
I had an abnormal Pap b/c of HPV. I needed to get a LEEP procedure done (to take the "bad" cells of the cervix). I had no trouble getting pregnant. The only thing you should know, is that when you have a LEEP you MAY be at a higher risk for cervical incompetance during pregnancy. Basically, the cervix is not strong enough or long enough to hold the baby in. This is what happened to me at 18 weeks. Fortunately my doctor knew about my history of the LEEP and he was monitoring my cervix w/ ultrasounds every 2 weeks. He caught the shortening of my cervix, sent me straight to the hospital, and i had a cerclage put in. THat is when they stitch the cervix closed. My pregnancy has been safe ever since! Now, even knowing this, if you need a LEEP, get it done! I know many more friends who have had a LEEP and NOT had any problems during the pregnancy!
i have hpv and i'm pregnant, as long as you get your yearly pap tests, you don't have anything to worry about. if they find precancerous cells on your pap, you will have a biopsy, if the biopsy comes back positive for precancerous cells, you will have a LEEP procedure.
I also have HPV and have already had some precancerous cells show up. After 3 months, my body had already fought the cells on its own and 1 and 1/2 years later, I'm still fine.

It should not affect your ability to get pregnant or have healthy children. But, you should get a pap regularly to make sure that they detect any abnormailities before they develop into cancer so you can be around to raise your children.
The doctor, most likely, will suggest that you come in for another pap. If that pap smear comes back as abnormal, then the doctor may scrape or freeze the cells on your cervix to try to kill the precancerous cells. Continue to keep in touch with your doctor. This is very common and is easily treated if you stay on top of it. There are many options for this.

If you continue to keep up with your doctor's appt's, etc, then you should be fine.
there are several yahoo groups that talk about this, and provide support.
HPV is so common among woman... your best bet is to get the vaccine... unless you are already sexually active then... oye... good luck with that. All women who are thinking of becoming sexualy active should be tested and treated first. The cells on your cervix should be removed, this wont hurt your fertility chances but can make it hard to carry to term. You'd be monitored closely by a doctor.
I had this about 2 years ago. Well I had cancerous cell and I am sure you will have too do some test and have a LEEP done and you will not become infertile make sure you get it taken care of. After a leep you can still get pregnant I am 18 weeks. GOOD LUCK.
Follow your doctor's advice, probably more frequent visits. If it developes into cancerous cells, your doctor will find it well before any damage occures. The procedure to remove these is now very quick and painless.

You will be able to get pregnant post treatment.

Don't worry too much, this is very, very common.
it all depends on each woman. the most imporant thing is to get check-ups every 3-6 months, or however often your doctor recommends. some women may just need to have a cone biopsy, or some women may need to have a LEEP. some may need to do multiple procedures. only your doctor can answer that one.

stay on top of it...the more procedures you have done, the more it will affect your chances of having children. you may not have any problem getting pregnant, but each time you have to have a procedure, it weakens your cervix - which holds a fetus safely in during pregnancy - so you may have higer risk of miscarraige or pre-mature birth.

i cannot stress enough how important it is to see your doctor regularly.
don't miss any scheduled doctors appointments! this is completely curable as long as you keep up with it and see your doctor when you're supposed to.
For you and everyone, try to boost your immune system as much as possible. Get lots of rest, exercise, eat healthy, take a vitamin supplement. You can also try natural detoxification products to help your immunity. HPV is a virus which is best battled by your own system. Do your best to help yourself. And please practice safe sex!
I have HPV and I had a baby, then 5 years later my doctor found precancerous cells IN my cervix. I had surgery and now I am fine. I can still have children.

Just make sure you get your yearly paps and you should be ok.
First of all know that precancerous does not mean cancer. And second, if you trust your doctors' recommendations, then go with them. Your recent pap smear showed that you had abnormal cells or dysplasia. Your doctor will probably treat you by freezing the cells to kill them off. or burning them off.
The goal of treating cervical abnormalities is by removing the affected tissue before it becomes cancerous. This is commonly done by a LEEP procedure. Depending on the extent of the cervical abnormality, other treatment methods may be used, including surgery.

Most cases of HPV that cause abnormal Pap smears require no treatment. They generally go away on their own within two years. It is important to follow up on abnormal Pap smears to ensure the cervical dysplasia is not getting worse
first of all hpv is a sexually transmitted disease. If it's precancerous your dr. may want to do a colposcopy to examine your cervix to look at the abnormal cells to see what degree. There are basically 3 levels. The higher the level the more abnormal cells you have on your cervix that put you more at risk for cervical cancer. But it also depends if you are low or high risk. Hpv is also something that lives in the skin and can become dormant so it's best that if you are involved with someone you let them know just in case you have the type that cause genital warts.

People with hpv can become pregnant and it doesn't make it any harder its just that if you do become pregnant it can increase the abnormal cell growth due to the warmth or cause your dr. to prolong a biopsy if one is needed.

Honestly there is nothing to really worry about cause stress wont help your situation. Stay in the best of health and keep your immune system up (like w/ taking vit. C) Keep on top of getting pap smears done as scheduled. If you engage in sex make sure your partner isnt causing you any pain like going to deep since it could be causing friction on your cervix which isn't good.

I have HPV and had bad pre-cancerous cells as well. I had a LEEP procedure in 2005 - and two years later, here I am healthily pregnant. So - no it does not cause infertility - especially since it mainly attacks your cervix, not your ovaries. I had a chunk of my cervix removed, so that puts me in a higher-risk category for preterm labor, which of course can be helped with an endo-cervical cerclage and medication should I need it. Fortunately my doctor told me I won't need it because the length of my cervix has regrown into a "good" state. (And no more bad cells either!!)

Just keep up with what your doctor wants you to do - tons of women have HPV and have happy, healthy pregnancies.

Good luck! :)
I had it a few years ago, and my dr. did a minor surgery to remove the precancerous cells from my cervix. I've been fine ever since. HPV is the most common virus there is. The only real concern when you have this surgery, afterwards, have them check your cervix regularly...to see if it has been weakened, it can become an "incompetent cervix" during pregnancy and cause miscarriage in the 2nd trimester.
I am currently pregnant with twins, in my 2nd trimester, and all is perfectly fine. I'm sure you will have no troubles. :)
