Is this true or is she giving my sister in law negative information on her pregnancy?

My sister in law is 37 weeks pregnant and going to have a c-section due to other health related issues..Well this is her first baby and her friend told her when she goes into the c section that she can request for her doctor to do a little tummy tuck while stitching her up..She said its not a big tummy tuck but they can do it while stitching her..Is this true or is it a bunch of bologna? I have never heard this and im on my 4th pregnancy..I dont want her to feel stupid asking if this isnt true,i told her not to but she said shes going to...

Answer:
She would need to see a plastic surgeon that is affiliated with the hospital she is having the baby in. And ask the PS if he/she is willing to do this, many will. If there are no complications during the delivery the PS takes over after the OB is done and does the outer layer. BUT, her insurance will not cover the PS's fee's and most want payment up front. The OB will not do this as they are not a plastic surgeon. Good Luck to your sister in law.
Good question! I hope that's true, cuz I want one after my next baby. This little kangaroo pouch is just nasty.
An OBGYN is not a plastic surgeon, tummy tuck is not a surgery they perform.
It's true, many doctors will offer this service as they are already in the right place.
My sis had it done with her c-section.
it is two different doctors... A Gyn/OB would be the one doing the surgery, to get a tummy tuck that would be a plastic surgeon, if you SIL wants to ask then let her, why should see need a Tummy tuck, you breastfeed, and eat healthy and you will lose the baby weight in no time.
Most doctors wont do that. The reason is that most doctors arent trained in plastic surgery as well as OB. Also a tummy tuck right after birth like that wont take well as there will be too many changes going on for it to heal properly.
I have had 3 c-sections and I have never heard of such a thing. I would guess that it possible because when they cut you open they could just stretch the skin tighter and cut some off but I have never heard of a doctor doing it. You are awake during the whole c-section.
It depends on the doctor - but I have known people who have had this done. My own mother's doctor offered to do it as a matter of fact. In all of these cases though -- the women did not 'request' it... instead the doctors offered.
So you want to prevent your sister in law from asking her doctor an important medical (or cosmetic) question relating to her pending c-section -- because you don't want her to feel stupid?

I think your sister in law should ask her doctor whatever she wants! she has the right to ask all questions and to be fully informed.

I think you should butt out, since this question is between her and her doctor.
If her OB also happens to be a certified plastic surgeon... or if her OB works in conjunction with a plastic surgeon... then it's possible. That's what celebrities do.
this isnt really an answer to the question, but it couldnt hurt her to ask the doctor. supposedly the only stupid question is the one you dont ask. take it for what its worth.
It's true! My friend had 2 babies, both by c section. On the second the doctor removed the old scar tissue from the first, and pulled the skin tighter for her. Her belly looks better after the second than the first!:)
She could also have her tubs tied if she is throe with having kids.I like woman with a bit of tummy.
