34 weeks babys already 6lbs?
They had me go in to have another sonogram because I was measuring 36 weeks at 33 weeks, when I had the sonogram she said I was 34 weeks. So I still have 7 weeks to go ( 6 weeks and a couple days I believe) my girls already 6 lbs... I've gained 65 lbs already, and I've been put on bed rest throughout the remainder of my pregnancy. I have high blood pressure so they are watching me very closely. Why I believe they are off, the doctor said they have never gone over on a due date. EVER.
Anyone else have 6lb baby at 34 week and feel like they can go any second? Or had their doctor been off on the due date?
Answer:
My ex's mother carried all 4 of her children 8 months, almost to the day. We had one son born 2 month premature, which if you factor in the hereditary 8 month factor wasn't as bad as it seems. And even that early he was almost 6 pounds. Dr.'s said he would have been at least 10 pounds if she had gone full term. Our Preme baby is now 6'4" and weighs about 200 pounds. They Dr.s never would listen to my ex about the her mother carrying only to 8 months. So yes, Dr.'s can be wrong and they don't for the most part like to listen to there patients. Good luck, everything will work out.
on all 3 of my pregnancies my babies were 6 or 7 lbs by about 34 weeks. It is common for them to be able that weight. They slow down a bit toward the end of pregnancy. Hang in there and all will work out. Just try to relax and take it easy.
With my first daughter they told me at week 32 she weighed around 5 pounds. I also had high blood pressure and was put on bed rest and gained way too much weight. She was born two days before her due date weighing 8 pounds 6 ounces. You could just be having a bigger baby or maybe their measurements are a little off.
I can only tell you from experience, that through my last pregnancy all the doctors thought my daughter was going to be huge. They were guessing at least 10lbs. I was measuring bigger than normal. But she was 7lbs 5 oz at birth and they old me afterwards my uterus measured larger than normal so that threw them off.
Take care of yourself and good luck!
It is possible they have your baby's weight wrong... or maybe your due date.
At 39 weeks I asked my doctor how big the baby was... she said "oh about 7 pounds"... 6 days later I gave birth to a 9 pound 6 ounce baby girl.
If your baby does get really big, a c-section might be the outcome, so be prepared for that.
im going through that now my baby is measuring 31 weeks and 2 days but im only supposed to be 29 weeks and some days by my lmp. my baby is already huge weighing 4 1/2 pounds. she doesn't even fit on the ultrasound anymore. my due date is May 3rd and my doctor hasn't changed my due date because of what the baby is measuring so i dunno what to do. babies are tricky.
Sounds a bit heavy maybe you have gestational diabetes
I had twins at 35 weeks. One was 6 lb 6 oz and the other was 6 lb. 13 oz.
I have had three and each of them were about 6lbs at the the 34-35 week mark. It's not that unusual. I also think that you don't really know the size until they are out and on a scale. Doc's have often been off on the size even with u/s or fetal assessment. It really is an educated guess with the docs. So try not to worry too much. Before you know it you'll have your babe in your arms and the bedrest and all the rest of the pains will be a distant memory.
Sounds like you just have big baby - it happens. Keep following doc's advise and you'll be fine.
the dr. could be pretty close on the date, mine did tell me that the dates can be a week give or take off though. you may just have a large baby. good luck though.
You can't go by the later ultrasounds, they are so innacurate. Your doc wasn't checking to verify the due date, she was checking that the AC/HC circumfrences were not in discrepancy. Abdomen/Head circumfrences. If the abdomen measures at 33w and the head measures at 36w it could mean IUGR (interuterine growth restriction). Most people don't understand this stuff which is why the docs don't tell you, they just send you for an ultrasound. Go by your first ultrasound if it was done before 12w gestation. That's your accurate due date. My son was measuring 37w at 34w and in further ultrasound was said to have a 37w head, a 36w femer and a 34w belly meaning there was some growth restriction. I've been on bed rest etc hoping everything would turn out ok. Because the baby's head was so big iv'e felt like popping for quite some time. STILL pregnant though!
Ultrasounds in late pregnancy are not accurate. They can be off by as much as 2lbs in either direction. There is no standard of measurement when it comes to u/s. What the doctor said about them having no one go over their due date scares me. Seems like they force everyone to have their babies whether the baby is ready or not. Can you go to a different practice?
As for your high blood pressure, how high is it? Try increasing how much protein you eat (lean meats, eggs, cheese, beans), drink lots of water and do NOT cut out all salt. Your body needs it. Just don't go overboard.
