Don't close to needles! Scared of IV more than the labor itself!?

Any way to not gain an IV during labor? It's just the thought of it sticking surrounded by me for so long!! I am serious when I say I am more worried roughly speaking that than the labor!

Answers:    Unfortunately, you will be hard pressed to find a doctor who will allow you to labor lacking an IV. There may be complications and the doctors want to know they can resolve issues quickly.

For example, should your kid show signs of distress, the doctors will want to be able to gearstick you to surgery and give you anesthesia hastily so they can perform a C-section. That is strictly a hypothetical illustration.

It won't be too bleak. The IV is actually singular a flexible plastic tube and the needle is individual present at the beginning to gain access to your artery. Trust me, once you start hard labor contractions, you will forget adjectives about the IV.

It will be fine. You'll be so joyous after you see your baby for the first time and hold him or her.

Congratulations!
In the middle of the labor pains, the nozzle will feel dutiful...if you even notice it! 3 babies after that I am immune to a needle poke and I be in equal boat as you 5 years ago when i got started. Fear Not.
I am duplicate way.. I hold about 10 piercing but i abhorrence needles, like at the doctors. I go to get my blood drawn today for the glucose test(again) and my hand were sweaty and arg.. it sucked. It other not hurting as bad as i thought it would. It seem so scary immediately.. but when your having contractions you probably won't watchfulness. That's what I am hoping.. Or i'll just cry when they share me i have to win an IV. lol...
Good Luck!
wow! but I'm in equal situation as you! i have a phobia near needles ever since i can remember! but as soon as you find out a way to avoid the iv agree to me know lol!
i had my first son nearly three years ago now and am due for my second surrounded by ten weeks. with my first i didnt hold any needles or anything and the doc said i might not for this one as well. purely remember to keep your fluids up when ur within labor and u will be fine.
Honey child let me update you.. once those labor pains hit you, you won't give a rats *** going on for a needle. Believe me when I detail you, they can drive a mack truck into your arm and you'd be glad to have it as long as it stopped the stomach-ache :).... Congrats on the baby.
I antipathy getting poked. I got poked 5 times today for my 3 hour glucose screening trial. But when you are in labor you really dont even see them putting that IV in your paw. It doesnt hurt until they take it out. THats the factor i hate the most.
come on reckon about the newcomer who would create an unmatched convulsion in your time and you would forget everything even the needles and the labor.
Seriously, if you are pretty good into labor, you probably wont even perceive the IV getting put in.
Also you really do not requirement an IV unless you have tested positive for Group B Strep (which is adjectives in pregnant women and requires antibiotics thru IV to prevent ratification it onto the baby) or if you are having a c-section. IV's hold been put into women routinely for a long time, starting when childbirth be basically treated as a medical emergency. IV's are put contained by for absolutely no point very habitually. The hospital staff will urge you to have one, but you do hold patients rights and can tell them no. I
I am not trying to panic you, I understand where on earth you are coming from, I am afraid of needles as well. The IV isn't the entity that bothered me, it was the epidural. If you surmise having a bit needle put contained by your arm is scary, dally until they put a huge one in your spine! Yikes! Not to mention sometimes when the nozzle enters your spine your intact back will get a cracking sound that will panic the sh*t out of you....although apparently it is normal. Good luck I quality for you too!
My best firend was duplicate way, she HATES needles more than I hold ever noticed anyone hate anything. We were pregnant together and one darkness she went next to me to labor and delivery because I be having contractions, she nearly faint when they put in my i.v. my mother within law have to get her a cold towel. Anyway, when she finally go into labor she labored at home for as long as she could then have me drive her to the hospital thinking she was just about 4 cm dilated, all right when we got in attendance they said she didn't have time to grasp any drugs because the only entry holding the baby contained by was that her sea hadn't broken. They broke her water, she pushed for almost 20 minutes and had her infant minus drugs and i.v.
These people who enjoy answered already are really dumb to assume you must have an IV to own a successful childbirth....having an IV is not a requirement. Find a midwife, instruct yourself, and prepare for natural childbirth as powerfully as you can. And while you're doing that, prepare for the fact some things might not travel as well as planned and you might necessitate to get an IV for the sake of yourself and your child, but for for drugs, then for "blood gatorade" to variety sure you don't pass out during abdication. Consider it trial #1 of many contained by the journey of self a GOOD PARENT. I did not have drugs, and both of my 2 sisters contained by law did not own drugs during delivery (we adjectives have varying monetary statuses, but similar values). It took a lot of self-education and advocacy.
that's why i go natural.
why do you necessitate an iv,are you getting induced?otherwise thier is no needles ,unless you want the epidural, which i never had as i don't want someone poking my posterior.
I put up with the torment.
I was fearful too. really i would cry before i go in knowing i be going to get poked. I have to have my IV redo Once blood taken twice and 2 epidural s! After contractions I wouldve let them poke 6 more times
I agree near Jadmac2 I am pregnant with tot number 4 and I only have to have an IV near one birth as I had to be induced. otherwise an iv is superfluous for child birth.
same for me
I even need someone to hold my appendage during a blood test
I am pregnant 10wks I freshly comepletly avoiding the labor issue, but I am thinking of going all unprocessed or with hypnosis
I hear it work
Lord I hope it work
You won't necessarily have an IV. As long as everything is going capably and there are no problems, near shouldn't be any reason to own an IV. Talk to the doc about this when you dance into labor, that way they know your wishes - also, might want to reflect on about innards out a birth plan (just a list of things that are important/not vital to you when it comes to the birth of your child - for example, being competent to hold the baby right after transference, nursing right after delivery, IVs, etc.). It may not be followed exactly, but at smallest they will know what your plans are and hopefully try to stick to it. Of course, you do realize that you won't have any strain medicine if you don't enjoy an IV or epidural. So you have to preserve that in mind too. Good luck near everything!
You have a valid Phobia, same as me -

Aichmophobia - alarmed of needles.
