11 weeks. Nausea getting worse instead of better. Any suggestions?
When did this end for you?
Not complaining... very happy to be puking since it's a good sign of a healthy pregnancy!
Answer:
I started vomiting at 3 weeks (yes, as in a week before I could even take a pregnancy test!), and it lasted the entire pregnancy. If you get to the point where you can't keep down water, then the drugs really are worth it, you will harm your baby more if you let yourself get dehydrated (and you will likely end up in the hospital).
non-Rx things you can try are really all the classic things people talk about - ginger, lemon, peppermint, saltines, etc. Some women swear fatty foods - like McDonalds work (kind of like some people eat like that to help a hangover, I guess!) My experience was that some things would work one day and not the next, or vice versa. Try to listen to your body and if something sounds appealing, give it a shot. You should feel somewhat better if you can keep a little bit of food in your stomach as much as you can. Don't bother with full meals, just keep snacking a little bit at a time.
one other thing you can try is a combination of Unisom and Vitamin B6. This used to be a Rx drug, still is in some countries although they don't sell it in the US. You can check with your doctor - the nurse at my doctors office used it during her own pregnancy! It made me too tired to take during the daytime but it did help me get some sleep at night without waking up to get sick.
good luck, for most women, the nausea fades at the end of the first trimester.
Actually I started throwing up at 11 weeks, I think it's the verge of nausea at this time. It is getting a bit better now at 13 weeks and I can finally eat something without pressure.
