How well protected is your baby at 4 to 5 weeks?

My husband and I were TTC for the first time and I just got a BFP :-) I really didn't think I was because I dont have many symptoms. Anyways, I have a 6 month old puppy who weighs 40 pounds and she has a bad habit of jumping up on me. She has done this a bunch of times and even today. She also sleeps on me and puts her head right on my belly. I'm just wondering if this is o.k. How much pressure can you put on your uterous during the first few months? Can I lean against the counter which is right where the baby is when putting on my make up. I know I sound crazy I'm just nervous and want to do everything right. I would love to hear stories from experienced moms.

Answer:
your baby is well protected ...your uterus and the fluid keeps the baby safe..and i just had this problem too...but im 25 weeks along and i have a black lab and a rott..who both decided to jump in my stomach ..and when i called the ob they told me as long as i wasnt cramping, bleeding, and had a loss of fluid not to worry...and told me to drink extra fluid throughout the day..this just happened last week..just becareful next time...and good luck and congrats..
No, don't take any risks.
I wouldn't try to put any pressure on my stomach intentional. Especially leaning against the counter to put makeup on, isn't there another way you can look in the mirror without resting on it? Also you need to teach the puppy not to be jumping on you and break the bad habits now before the baby is born. Would you want the puppy jumping on the New Born baby?? (((I hope not!!)))
It is perfectly ok to put pressure on your stomach, even during the early months, as long as you are not uncomfortable. Your baby is protected by the best shock absorption system known to mankind--it takes a LOT of pressure, or a very hard sharp blow, to affect them!

More than likely, within a few weeks you will no longer be comfortable leaning against the counter, and it will be a little painful when your dog jumps up on you. This isn't hurting your baby, it's just that your uterus and stomach are stretching out and becoming sensitive. In fact, there's always a few weeks in early pregnancy when I can't even stand an elastic waistband across my stomach--it's just too sensitive.

In general, if it doesn't hurt you, it's not hurting your baby. Leaning against the counter, lying on your stomach, or having your puppy sleeping on your stomach might become uncomfortable for you soon, but it will not hurt your baby.

Congratulations and Good luck!!
Your baby is cushioned away pretty nicely in there, unless you have a condition that you did not disclose, the child will be safe.

I have 6 children and let me tell you when you have a big belly and you have 2 babes in arms, there is a lot of pressure and the babies have all come out alright. :)
aww congratulations! I had the same thing with my dogs, as soon as I found out I was pregnant. The two little dogs loved to put their heads and sleep on my stomach, they never did this before. I think they know. Anyways, anytime I ever put a lot of pressure on my stomach/uterus. I started spotting. Your cervix is carrying a lot of blood, more than normal and it can get irritated really easily. Just take it easy. I'm sure the dogs laying on you is okay as long as it isn't a huge dog. Good luck and I'm so happy for you guys!
