I have really bad lower back and groin pain, but I dont think Im having contractions, could I be in labor?

I am only 35 weeks pregnant but when I went to the doctor last week he said the baby dropped really low and that I don't have much longer to go.

Answer:
You have to time them. If they're coming regularly, then yes you probably are. If not, then no you're not in labor.
it could be just the stress from the baby dropping
Call your doctor or a clinic just to make sure nothing is wrong!
its possible get your butt to the hospital and get checked out. dont risk not knowing
they are braxton-hicks or false labor, with true labor the pains grow as in get worse and come in waves that get closer together.
Could be from the baby dropping, it feels like a ton of pressure.. or it could be back labor. Call the dr.
many women deliver at less than 35 weeks... 34- 36 is safe, if you've dropped and are unsure, you should at least call your doctor.
chances are thier braxton hicks, but you need to be safe.
call your doctor, don't depend on answers from here.
Depends if the pain is continuous or comes and goes in waves... If its constant, it's probably the shift of weight of baby straining your back. If it's every few minutes then it could either be the real thing or Braxton-Hicks contractions ( practice contractions) Good Luck either way!!
It could be pressure from the baby's head since you said he had dropped some. Or they could be Braxton Hicks contractions. They are still contractions but not the " Baby's coming in a few hours" contractions. Those are consistant and happen at a steady timing getting closer. There is a possibility that you could be going into labor. You should try to remember the warning signs of labor that your doctor should have mentioned. If you can not just call him and express you concerns.
when i went into labour all i had was back pain and i was 36 weeks...so get get yaself checked out
You could well be into pre-labour. If your plug hasn't dislodged and your water hasn't broken you will not go into full labour, depending on the cervix. It is best to go to a hospital and be monitored for an hour, rather than be scared at home. They are used to it, especially for 1st time mums. At 35 weeks it is not uncommon for Braxton Hicks contractions. They are harmless and can be useful in getting you used to actual labour pains.
Call your doctor
