Pregnancy and vitamins?

hi i am 7 weeks pregnant and just need some advice, the thing is i cannot eat any dairy products and never have but since i have become pregnant i cannot eat meat even looking at it turns my stomach, and i hate fish so all i eat is friut and veg rice and pasta am i missing out on essential vitamins if so what vitamins should i take?

Answer:
I had very serious morning sickness and food aversions while pregnant.

There are three key things you need to be getting:
1) 100 g of protein (I am attaching a list of high protein non-meats, ignore what you can't eat)
2) Leafy greens. If you can't eat them you need to take a suppliment floradix is good, alfalfa pills(mint flavoured), oat straw, red raspberry leaf tea. Also if you make a "smoothie" with or without dairy and add citrus or berries it will mask the taste of spinach or kale if you puree one of them in.
3) Orange and red foods. Peppers, oranges, etc.

Here is some good info on diet during pregnancy, try not to stress over it and keep in mind that this diet is relatively old so it should be adapted for more modern food choices. The thing is, it really works:

you would be best going to your gp for this question! if someone on here thinks they are a doctor just for today, then they might get you to take something you shouldnt be! go to the docs to find out hun! and congrats on the news!
400 mcg of folic acid is very important.
Try to drink milk if you can stomach it or eat lots of yogurt so you are getting plenty of protein as your current diet as it stands looks like it is lacking in protein. You can get a vitamin/mineral supplement for pregancy at large health food shops. I would suggest you get that also. You may also be lacking in iron if you are not eating meat. The vitamin supplement will probably give you a supply of iron also.
You should probably speak with your Dr. Are you taking your prenatal vitamins? Your OB would be able tell you for sure if you are missing out on any essential Vitamins.

Orange juice is a good one though, my OB always said drink more OJ.
You need to take a prenatal vitamin. You can get these OTC. But I hope you have made an appointment with an o.b. to discuss which are best for you. He or she can prescribe one that may be better than an OTC one. It's normal to have a hard time eating certain foods in the beginning.
Good luck and congrats
You are still very early in your pregnancy. Most likley you will be able to eat that stuff as you get further alongTake your prenantals everyday. I couldnt barley eat anything for my first 14 weeks with both of mine and hen i did eat i threw it up. It will be fine. At least you are eating some things. Keep it up your doing great.
most likely you will be able to eat those things later on in your pregnancy. until then, you should take iron supplements. you and the baby both need iron and your body gets most of it from meat products. if you do not get enough you will become anemic. talk to your doctor about how much you should take though because too much iron is bad from unborn babies.
Well, you should be taking a supplement regardless of how well you are eating in pregnancy. The most important thing is folic acid at this stage. It is necessary for the healthy development of the spinal cord in the baby. It's recommended that you take it for 3 months prior to becoming pregnant, and for the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. I took a multi vitamin called pregnacare, which is a formulation of vitamins (including folic acid) designed especially for pregnancy, and I took it for the whole of my pregnancy. Don't worry too much about not wanting to eat certain foods in early pregnancy...loads of women can't stomach much in early pregnancy and go on to have healthy babies. Try drinking fresh juices for vitamins and do start a multi vitamin with folic acid as soon as possible if you are not already taking one.

Congratulations and good luck with your pregnancy!
My daughter took pregnacare.

Its got everything you need in it.
Not being able to eat any dairy products is not bad for u but it is recommended for the production of your milk supply and the nutrients that go to your baby for strong bones...I am somewhat of a lactose intolerant and cant handle dairy products very well, bit i do it anyways,i eat my yogurt and drink my milk...if u can try buying some soy milk or some yogurt that your body can stand unless u are highly allergic...I too cannot stand the sight of meat during this pregnancy...i eat salad,pasta,yogurt,milk,cereal... etc...Try and if u really can do it then take vitamins for which those dairy products would usually give u such as calcium..also ask your ob/gyn they will be able to help u out some more..good luck and congrats!!
Take your prenatal vitamins. Also I would suggest eating Rasin Bran for breakfast. It contains about 60% of the iron you need in a day, it will prevent anemia (much better than those nasty iron pills). Also I would discuss my diet with my doctor. Many vegetarians have very healthy deliveries so I don't see why you should be any different.
I would normally say, nuts and seeds, but i dont think thats appropriate coz you are pregnant. I would ask your midwife, she is trained in these areas, and knows more than we do.

good luck and congrats!!
If you speak with your doctor about it they can refer you to a nutritionist that can give you ideas on things to make using the things that you like to eat. They may want to give you some iron.
