How soon can you lose your mucos plug? and how long after you lose it do you go into labor?
Answer:
You can lose it before you even go into labour.
I am sure this is not what you want to hear, but everyone is so different when it comes to starting labor. Some people don't lose them, some people lose them 24 hours before and some people lose them up to a week before. I lost mine about a week before I went into labor, and it was not what I was expecting it to be, just from reading things about it.
Some women lose it early in their pregnancy, even before 36 weeks, it will grow back if it's lost early.
Loosing it is not really an indication of immanent labor.
I lost mine a little less than 2 days before I gave birth to my son. My labour started about 16 hours after I lost it (my water broke as well). I was 39 1/2 weeks.
Good luck!
When you lose your mucus plug it is because your cervix is softening to prepared for dilating. I lost mine in little pieces for about 2 weeks before I had my babies. But there is now way to tell really. All you can do is figure that when you lose your plug, labor is not far away, might be a month, might be a day. Just make sure your bag is ready.
My daughter lost hers about a month ago, she's having the baby today!
With one of mine, I lost the plug 20 hrs. before. The other 2 my water broke first!
With my 2nd son I lost my mucous plug at 37 weeks.gave birth to him at 40 weeks on his due date.
WIth my 1st son I never lost my plug until I was in full blown labor.
I know someone who had a realy bad bladder infection at 33 weeks and her mucus plug fell out she is now 36 weeks and nothing has happened. I think you can lose it like 4 weeks or more before labour. But some people lose it and with in hours or days go into labour.
Like all the answers it generally depends.. With my first baby i lost it in one big lump 3 days before i gave birth. I am currently 37 weeks +3 days and i lost quite a big bit on Sunday gone then some more last night.. Still no onset of labour yet though.. Just some mild symptoms. Looking for other symptoms may give you more of an idea as to when labour may start. For example an increase in braxton hicks, backache, diarrhea.. Good luck with your upcoming labour!!
