Has anyone had a transfusion?
Answer:
i am a midwife who has also had a section a short while ago it is perfectly normal to have atransfusion if the iron is low as it gives you the boost tou need quicker than tablets
an infection (and the side effects of antibiotcs) can make you feel rough for a while till it is cleared
i found i recovered fast making sure i took regular painkillers but the usual stresses of motherhood take their toll (slee[less nights etc)
also i really knew it if i did too much
i would suggest help with resting and nagging for overdoing it
i felt fab after 6 weeks
Transfusions are pretty normal for surgery. Alot of doctors will use preventative antibiotics. Also infections after birth are quite common especially after all the vaginal checks ect. Recovery for a csection usually takes six weeks of very limited activity. Then it takes another six or so to feel well. As far as deep healing of the muscle it takes a full year and even then the scar will probably be sensitive.
I have not had a blood transfusion but I am a nurse and have administered blood to many patients. The infection may not be connected to the transfusion, it could be in the wound. You would normally expect antibiotics to be effective over 5 to 7 days, if not they should be reviewed by the doctor. If you want to know more about the infection you or your daughter should ask the doctor and he/she should give you the details.
Never had a section but after normal birth with my first had to have a transfusion. The recovery will take as long as having an infection by any other way. The bugs that she has are the same by any route but you do not say what the infection is.
Your daughter should be asking the doctor these questions - he or she can answer them. I know that you want to help but you do not have the qualifications - tell her to speak to her doctor.
