Does a baby 20 weeks old that has severe spina bifida feel any pain?
Answer:
Yes, they feel pain just like normal babies do. The babies pain receptors begin to develop at 8 weeks...and to the guy above, just becaue you dont remember feeling pain doesnt mean you didnt. I dont remember being born...but I was. So what does remembering have to do with it.
Yes. What kind of question is that?
wtf is that?
all livin creatures feel pain in some way, so long as their nerve receptors function and are enabled to work.
Thats so sad. Folic acid is the key here!
the baby isnt developed enough to feel pain. can you remember feeling pain as a baby? no.
if the baby is in the wound it doesn't but if the baby is born already it does
Yes, babies have nerves so I would imagine they do feel pain!
to niecy
the baby in the woumb feels what the mom feels
If you are asking because you think the baby should be aborted (I assume it's unborn since this is the pregnancy section), then the answer is not clear. Some studies show that the fetus DOES feel pain at this stage, others do not. We do not know for certain if an unborn baby with a defect is suffering, or if it will suffer if aborted. I suppose those who think that a baby feels pain could apply suffering to EITHER situation. If the baby feels pain, neither abortion or allowing the baby to suffer is really any better.
The question to ask is this, will the baby suffer more if it is born, or if it is aborted?
It is a very tough place to be in, and on one really has the answers.
If the baby is already born, there are medications and surgery that can help reduce the pain and help the condition. I should also point out that surgery in the womb can also be done. This is another option, but it has risks as well.
as long as the baby is alive
