2 weeks ago I took a pregnancy test. It came out negative.?

I took it just b/c I was wondering if I might be pregant. My last period was the 1st week of Jan. I was expecting my period this week but the GYN doctor confirmed yesterday that I am pregant through a urine test.
So my question is.could I be like 2wks pregnant or am I more than that.
I know that the hormone to indicate pregancy does not automatically show when you get pregant. I'm just wondering if it's safe to say I'm less than 4wks pregnant??
And how long does it take for that hormone to become detectable??

Answer:
when somebody says they are 2 months pregnant they have probably only actually been pregnant for 6 weeks because the month is counted from the first day of your last period when of course you weren't actually pregnant. Most women ovulate every 28 days more or less so 2 weeks after the first day of your last period is probably when you actually got pregnant. You may be been pregnant when you took that first test, in fact you almost certainly were, but there wasn't enough hormone for the test to detect. The point at which it is detectable differs in different women and different pregnancies. But for the purposes of assessing your due dates your pregnancy will be considered to have started in 1st week of January.

Congratulations
Count the days/weeks from the 1st day of your LMP. Which was the 1st week of Jan. so you are about 4 weeks give or take a few days. Congrats!!
No honey you are more than that, the first test may have just been to early or a common false neg. You are approx 5 and a half weeks preg.
By the time you miss your period, you are considered to be 4 weeks pregnant, but in reality the embryo is 2 weeks.
go to www.due-date-calculator.com and enter the first day of your last period. it will tell you how many weeks you are and when your estimated due date is. Congrats!
there are alot of reasons why that test may have come up negative it could have been faulty certain meds can change the outcome or yes you could just be 4 week along
The good home pregnancy tests can, at least in theory, detect pregnancy about 8 days after fertilization. Their accuracy is pretty sketchy that early, and if the embryo implanted late or you ovulated later than you thought, you can get a false negative while just being a little pregnant. You certainly fall in that range.

Without knowing when you ovulated, I can't say exactly how pregnant you are... calculating based on your last menstrual period, you probably conceived on or about January 15, and thus are approximately 22 days pregnant (congrats!). But this is pretty sketchy. When you have an ultrasound you can get a better idea of your dates.
If your last menstrual cycle was the first week on Jan...that would make you 4 weeks pregnant. They count the whole month even though you conceived in the middle of Jan..they count the whole month.
It could go either way. With HPT, you can sometimes get a false negative but usually not a false positive. You can figure how far you are by beginning with the last period you had. 2 weeks after the first day yiou start is your prime time to conceive. Hope this helps you to narrow it down.
