14th Week with EXTREME lower back/hip pain!! Please help!!?

This is my third pregnancy, but my youngest child is now 9 so it's been a while. I'm 30 years old and don't remember having this very sharp lower back/hip pain. I have a corporate job and wear heels to work. Could the heels be causing this and what can I do to help the pain? I'm losing sleep at night!

Answer:
It sounds like sciatica (not sure of the spelling) which is very common in pregnancies. I would not wear the heels no more it might make it worse. Try sleeping with a body pillow st night or with your feet elevated on some pillows. I wish you the best!
Please lose the heels...immediatly. You aren't 21 anymore.
sounds like a syattic nerve . GO TO THE DR> I had that and omg my labor was horible, I still suffer from it and my back kills me
sounds like a big baby maybe you should try shorter heels
def loose the heels--can you not wear flats? also, the baby could be on a nerve...go to the dr!
Sounds like it could be your siatica. If it is then there is really nothing that you can do about it. I had it with my 2nd daughter until about month 7 when she finally moved off of it. There were several times I fell because the pain was so sharp when I would move/walk.
I am only 3 yrs older than you and had my last child one year ago. I had the same pain and at times it went down my leg and went to the chiropractor...it was the sciattic nerve. Nothing will happen to your unborn child and you will feel ten times better...good luck.
Ugh! I could have written this post when I was pregnant with my 3rd, too! My oldest was 9 when she was born, too. :)

SWIM. Take the time to get in a pool. I never found a single thing to alleviate my back pain this time around, other than water. They have some fantastic prenatal water classes you can take, even yoga (which I didnt do, but wish I did). Aquatics might be your best bet. Also, ditch the heels for lower, professional shoes. I know it sucks, I have an extensive collection if heels myself, but after having my 3rd, I just cant do it anymore.

Oh, and congrats and good luck! Having a baby in your 30s is a WHOLE different ball game than in your 20s. :) Its been an amazing experience and my older 2 are huge helpers!
OMG, this is so weird. I've been seeing a chiropractor for some back and neck pain. He's also been manipulating my hip as well. So I'm 15 weeks, but at 13 weeks the pain in my right hip is so excruciating and the pain shoots down my groin/thigh. It's only after I've been standing for long periods. And I've been thinking that it's probably something my chiropractor has done to hurt my hip, but I was just talking to my friend, who's also pregnant, she's 13 weeks and she said that she has a really bad hip and she's planning to go to physio or for massage therapy tomorrow if there's no relief.
I'm confused on what to do about this. I have another appointment with my chiropractor tomorrow, he says the pain is from my hip. I'm thinking about asking him to leave my hip for a week or so, just to see if that's what it is.
I don't know what to do either! lol
Hey there -- I understand your concern, we only had two children, and not THAT far apart (2.5yrs) but still with each, and as a Mom, you're always concerned. The heels MIGHT, but more than likely, the baby is on you in some way that might be causing the pain. Check this website (they have ALL sorts of Q&A), and hopefully it will ease your worried mind! Best of luck to you.
You got to keep this in mind that YOU are pregnant.

Heels are the cause for causing this pain.

But there is yet another major cause that causes this problem especially during pregnancy. It is Calcium Deficiency. So get your calcium levels checked and get treated for it if at all this is the cause.

Leave heels immediately.
Stop wearing the heels, get flats.
When sitting in your office chair, make sure both feet are on the floor and your back is against the chair back. Use a stool / cushion as needed.
At night, sleep with a pillow between your legs and also consider getting a pillow to support your back.
Here is a simple remedy until you see your doctor.Massaging the back muscles will reduce the pain.Apply an icepack to the affected area. This will make the area numb and reduce the pain. More details and remedies at http://aches.in/backpainremedies.html...
See a doctor for advice now. I also had severe lower back pain during my pregnancies. For pregancy #1, I just thought it was due to being pregnant. For pregancy #2, I knew I needed help. First I visited a chiropractor because he could see me right away. After 12 visits within 4 weeks, I had very little relief from the chiropractor-- and relief only lasted a few hours. Then, I went to my physician who referred me to a Physical Therapist. The physical therapist found the problem and gave me the exercises I needed. Within 2 weeks of physical therapy, it was 90% better. My problem was due to sacral joint getting out of whack...apparently it happens a lot to pregant women. For pregancy #3, my back never felt better! Thank goodness for Physical Therapists!
