Bladder infections while pregnant?

What causes consistant bladder infections while pregnant and is it normal?

Answer:
A lot of the time is has to do with the pressure that the baby puts on you, but you also have to go pee every time you need to go. Don't hold it in becuase pee can contain a lot of bacterias and that can also lead you to vaginal infections. Drink lots and lots of water I know it sucks becuase it's bad enough that being pregnant you have to pee every 5 min.
the pressure of the baby on your bladder, drink as much water as you can it makes a difference and cranberry juice if possible
constand bladder infections are usually caused from your partner not being completely clean. If you solve that problem then I would go to the Dr. it could be something else.take care Heather
Some of the most common causes are thong underwear, poor hygeine, and diabetes (gestational diabetes when pregnant). Also, low thyroid function has been shown to have a link to UTI's
well it was normal for me in during my first pregnancy and fortunately I only had it one in my second.

doctors didn't really have a specific reason why it happens but they said one of the causes could be from when you take a bath sitting in the water too long.

whatever the reason, at least it is easily curable. doctors prescribe pills ( I think they were antibiotics, can't remember for sure though) and then you're cleared up in no time.
Being pregnant allows more sugar to pass to your urine. It also changes the pH of your urine. In addition the hormone that causes your blood vessels to relax a bit so you can carry more blood, and your pelvis to relax so you can birth a baby also causes all the other joints and the sphincters in your body to relax.

This relaxation makes it easier for bacteria to get into urinary tract. Which causes UTIs. It also makes it easier for bacteria to travel from the bladder to the kidney's which can cause big problems.

If you have had one UTI during pregnancy or are prone to getting them consider taking cranberry (juice or pills) or ascorbic acid (vitamin C, the more pure the better - and usually cheaper. You can find pure ascorbic acid with canning supplies and sometimes behind the counter at drugstores in a powdered form. Basically it is what makes sour candy sour so you know what it tastes like). Vitamin C increases the acidity of your urine to help prevent UTI. It helps prevent other infections as well, and has been shown to prevent PROM. There are some small studies that link vitamin C deficiency both pre and post birth with SIDS. So all in all I think it is a good thing, and is very safe as your body can get rid of what it doesn't need.

Many scientists, doctors, and dietitians recommend a much higher dose than the RDA. However excessively large doses can cause diarrhea (which may be useful if you are constipated from pregnancy) and can cause difficulty sleeping as it is a mild stimulant.

Take care.
