Hi there! My 3rd baby was breech (feet down) and I chose not to have them turn him. Turning a baby can be dangerous and I didnt want to risk it. So I waited it out. He never turned on his own and when I went into labor I went immediately to the hospital where I got my first epidural and first c-section. It was not painful and didn't take very long. There were just TOO many risks involved for me to agree to the "version" (which is the turning of the baby). Not to mention IF the doctors are able to get the baby to turn there is less than a 50% chance the baby will stay turned. Not worth the pain or risks involved in my opinion!
My daughter was transverse. The doctor was going to try and turn her when I went in for induction. He did an ultrasound to see if there was enough room and fluid to be able to turn her. The doctor said he could try to turn her but it would only be a 5 % chance that she would stay in the head down position long enough to be born vaginally. So i opted for a c-section. Some transverse babies can be turned it is just a matter of how big the baby is and if there in a large enough pocket of fluid in the amniotic sac.

Yes, my baby was transverse at 37 weeks. The doctor did actually turn my baby successfully. It was done in the hospital and two doctors actually pushed down on my stomach and flipped the baby. It was VERY painful but only lasted less than 2 minutes. Both the baby and I were monitored for 3 hours after they did it and then I was sent home. I never felt any pain after the procedure was over. I went on to deliver a healthy baby 2 weeks later! So while it was painful, I didn't have to have a C-section. More than likely your baby will not be transverse though. I think very few are. Hay just dont you worry the baby is fine no problem the baby will move,did you know you could assist him moving just move him is all start when he begins to move and move in a circular position move at the feet not the head never move at the head or do some jumpin be very active dont be afraid !

I had my baby one month ago and he was tranverse. After trying to turn him I ended up getting a emergancy c-section
yes I did. They tried hard to turn her. She didn't turn. ever. they did a c-section. I didn't want surgery, but after all was said and done she was safe, so was I. I'd rather have a c-section then no baby at all!!
My baby was transverse at his 35w ultrasound so we have another scheduled for tomorrow (38w) and I sat and talked to my doc about my options if the baby was still in transverse lie presentation. She said she felt fully confident in her ability to turn the baby sucessfully using external version. This is where they turn the baby externally. She said we'd be in the hospital and on guard just in case anything happened. Risks include prolapsed cord and fetal heart rate issues. If anything happened i'd be in for a C section before I even knew what was going on. She said she had never had an emergency arise from a transverse version but that about 1/2 of all transverse versions the baby went back to their transverse position before labor and needed a C section and 1/2 of which agian moved on their own before it was time to push and were able to be born vaginally.
Don't go by statistics when it comes to external versions, the ability of it working for you is only based on the doctor's skill doing them. Ask your doctor how confident he feels and what his success rate is doing a version, that's really the only way you'll know what your options are.
Your doctor will probably try to turn your baby closer to delivery; but sometimes the baby will just move back. You may have to have a C-section, so keep that in mind.
No personal experience with transverse lie, and sadly all our OBs immediately schedule c-sections for transverse and breech babies, they are very conservative.
However, I don't see why you can't try some of these "home remedies" before birth to see if they work, most seem pretty harmless, even fun.

At very least you'll feel like you're doing something to help while you wait. Be sure to consult your doctor with any ideas you have. Follow his/her guidance in the end though, if it doesn't work, you'll need a c-section, it's not the end of the world. The important part is that you and baby are healthy.
I don't have any experience with this other than the fact that I know of someone that tried to turn her baby herself and it resulted in the baby's death. When and if you baby needs to be turned it will be the doctor's call.
one of the girls i work with had a transeverse baby, she was given a medication that relaxes the uterus, and she had an epidural to help with any discomfort because she was in early labour, they then push and press your baby into a head down position. she said it was uncomfortable but much better than having to have a c section. she also told me that she spent a lot of time on all fours with her butt in the air, apparently for some women it helps. good luck
my daughter was transverse ,, the day i went into labor he turned her .. i remember the hospital bed being tilted really far back and some one running an ultrsound at the same time, it did hurt a little but it can be done in most cases.
The baby could turn all by itself before you deliver. If not you will probably have a c-section. I have heard that having a doctor turn the baby is not a comfortable situation. They manipulate the baby externally through your belly pushing and pushing to try to get the baby to turn. All my babys turned in the week before I delivered them. Good luck and don't stress.
They usually turn on thier on. If not, they might have to do a c-section.

Yes sweetie, It is possible to have a baby turned.
When my mom was pregnant with my 2 yr old sister, she was head up. The doctor was able to turn her. My mother said that it hurt like hell! Don't want to scare you, but it would be better to tell you than not let you know. She said that it feels like you sprain an ankle or pull a muscle.
