Does Breastfeeding really help you to lose weight faster?
Answer:
I believe it does. Also exercise. Like walk your baby in a stroller.
It helped me to lose half of the weight that I gained (unfortunately I had to work on the rest myself)
Yes. With my son I was nearly back to my pre-pregnancy weight within 6 months. I just had 10 more pounds to loose before I became pregnant again...he was 7 months old at that point.
i am a stay at home mother i breast feed for 12 month and i got down to my before baby weight by 4 month i lost 50lb in that time and i didn't exercise or change my diet but when i stop breast feeding i start to gain weight seeing how i wasn't exercising so to me it seems true hope this helps
It absolutely does help you lose the weight. You burn alot of calories by breastfeeding. It also helps to shrink your uterus. I breastfed both of my children and I lost more weight than I gained. The first one I lost the weight within the first 3 weeks (I didn't gain that much to begin with though). The second one I lost all the weight within the first few months. I'm due on the 10th of Feb with my 3rd and plan on breastfeeding this one as well. Not only does it help you lose the weight, but it's sooo good for your baby.
Breastfeeding requires about 1000 calories a day; half of these calories should come from nutritious additions to your prepregnancy diet. This leaves about 500 calories a day to be drawn from the fat stores you laid down during pregnancy. Since one pound equals 3500 calories, nursing mothers can expect to lose , on the average, about a pound per week.
no , but the good thing about breastfeeding is you don't have a period until you stop breastfeeding and then sometime they have to give you a shot to get your period to come back
It helped my sister in law, who is skinnier now than I've ever known her.
The problem is that if you nurse for a long while, you might forget how to eat normally, since breastfeeding burns at least 500 calories extra a day. You have to be careful not to put on a bunch of weight when you stop breastfeeding.
it is definatly true that it helps you loose the weight -- i was back to my post pregnancy weight in less than 3 months with my son! it was wonderful to fit back into "normal" clothes again!
I certainly think so. I breastfed my eldest son for only 3 weeks, coz he was such a guts that he used to choke because he sucked and breathed at the same time and after three weeks and going blue on the face and scaring me to death I chose to bottle feed so the 10kg I put on didn't actually come off. Then with my second son I breastfed for a year and stopped because I got an ear infection and had to take antibiotics, but the 10kg I put on in that pregnancy came off in a few months!! And I didn't do any diet or exercise!
Good-luck!!
Yes.I gained 58 lbs. And when i went to my 6-week check up I was already 115 ( 10 lbs heaver than pre prego weight which is what is recommended when breastfeeding). I didn't diet or anything. I really think it was the breast feeding. It also makes your uterus contract and shrink quicker.
