Answer:
I was 21 dpo...I have never missed a perod except when I was pregnant...I had a negative blood test also...turns out you can actually miss a period...if it doesn't show the next month...check with your Dr.
A blood test is accurate by then - but your doctor's interpretation of it might not be. With a blood test, they can actually tell how much hCG (pregnancy hormone) is in your blood, this is your beta result. A urine test just tells you if it's there or not and isn't as sensitive to very low levels of hCG. (oh, and it's possible to do a blood test that doesn't tell the level, just if it's present or not, in which case you won't get a beta result, but I'd question whether that's any more accurate than a urine test)
american Pregnancy Association says:
"An hCG level of less than 5mIU/ml is considered negative for pregnancy, and anything above 25mIU/ml is considered positive for pregnancy. "
So what if you are somewhere in between? Well, it's possible your doc said it was negative but that it's really not. I'd ask for the beta number so you can do some online research of your own.
