Trouble sleeping?

My 3 yr old has always been the independant one but he suddenly wants to sleep next to mom every night. There have been no big changes, no obvious tramas/nightmares. He has slept in his own bed for 2 yrs and in a room with his brother for 1 year. Any suggestions?

It may just be that he is starting to sence he is a big boy (even if he has been told that prior) and wants to be a baby again. My daughter (4) is going through this I had my son 2 years ago & she as been so proud to be a "big girl" all of a suddon she wants to be a baby, she asks to sleep w/ my hubby & I and says she needs to be carried. My mother in law is a child theropist & says that alot of children nearing the not a tot stage want to regress for more attention (or that is how the child sees it) We have had some improvment by reenforcing that she will always be our baby even when she is 40, but being a big girl is just so much fun.
I've never had a kid or experience with them but maybe some kind of musical toy to messmorize him to sleep could do the trick.
I haven't been in that kind of position. How about try some soothing music that your child likes. Maybe a favourite toy. My daughter sometimes has soothing music playing while she sleeps and cuddles her favourite toy. Maybe a night light of some sort with moving pictures. He will eventually want to go back to his bed.
