16 Month Old...Two Meals per Day. Enough??
Answer:
depends on what she is eating. If she is eating a good breakfast and dinner, she is probably fine. Otherwise I would give her something to snack on after playtime. Otherwise you can add a pediasure supplement to her liquid. I guess as long as she is gaining wait at an appropriate amt she is ok. The whole milk is awesome.
If she's laying in her bed babbling for 2 hours needing her diaper changed you need to hand her over to more capable hands. 2 meals a day is fine as long as she's getting enough in those 2 meals to sustain herself. If she's laying around dirty in a crib for 2 hours, that's not fine.
That doesn't sound like enough to me, but you really should talk to her pediatrician about it.
I don't see anything wrong with that as long as she eats when you feed her and she stays healthy. Why don't you ask your doctor for peace of mind?
might want to change the living pattern you have the baby in, later on to get the baby used to having 3 meals a day, for now try changing the pattern slightly little by little
try giving her healthy snacks like fruit and vegies in between meals.
It depends on how many calories she is getting. Depending on their age, size, and activity level, toddlers need about 1,000-1,400 calories a day.
From what I have read she should be getting about 40 calories a day per inch of height, which works out to be about 1240 calories a day. work out how many calories she is getting and see how it looks compared with that average.
There are probably easy ways to make sure she gets a few extra calories if she needs them You could give her a yogurt before you put her to bed, and something else when you change her, for example.
These links should be very helpful to you.
as long as in those meals she is getting a good amount of vitamins, she is fine. if she was hungry, she'd let you know!!
as for the playing in the crib, that is completly normal. my doctor told me it was actully healthy, as long as i kept an eye on my son (which was obvious...).
it's good that she is comfortable when you are out of the room
instead of letting her play and babble for so long, shorter periods of time are fine, babies need to learn to play by themselves. But they also need one on one with adults to learn motor skills and such. Try playing with her for one of the two hours, offering her small snacks like cheerios or cookie bits and you can make games with them, counting, where is it? etc.
My daughter didn't want to eat luch very much, and she was doing fine then all of a sudden she got really sick and was diagnosed with failure to thrive. I had to really get on the ball, I knew she didn't want to eat anything for lunch, so I got some pediasure and diluted it down just a little with milk, other wise it was too strong for her and she would throw it up. She didn't see it as eating, rather yummy chocolate milk!
before I knew it she was eating well and gaining weight and now she is in second grade and top of her class!
Good Luck,
If she is doing all this sleeping in the day, is she sleeping at night for you? I would keep her up a little longer. If she is this tired all the time, Have you had her tested for low iron? I would keep her up a little longer, maybe give her other things to do. A play date maybe.
