As a parent do you have a problem with the story of Hanzel & Gretel?
Answer:
yeah, i don't understand how this became such a popular story for children, it's so dark and twisted. more like children's horror.
Why it is just a story.
A lot of children's stories deal with cannibalism.
why should u have problems with old fairy tales
no i do not
YES! Where were the parents? Letting the children out to run to through the woods...that was just an accident waiting to happen.
All fairy tales have a dark side. It's a good thing. Kids should learn early that life is full of deception and deceit.
I grew up with this story and never thought twice about it. It was just a story. A fairytale. My older 2 kids hear it and just laugh and think its stupid. (They are 13 & 12)My two yr old just listens and it doesnt seem to bother him. I read him the same Hansel And Grettel book that I was read from as a child. Same with the Jack and The beanstock story. I read from my old book as a kid. Kids know what is real and what isnt more than we may think. A little "fantasy" is fun. Let the imagination go.
I'm not sure what you mean...Should I have a problem with a story like this? As a practicing witch, yeah, kind of. It reinforces a negative stereotype! ;) As a mother, no. It shows children in a bad situation fending for themselves and prevailing over someone who wants to do them harm.
Yes because they were running out in the wood alone where were their parents. To me that make children think that running arround alone is okay.
What is wrong with it? Teaches children not to run off without a parent or an adult. It doesn't hurt to scare your kids now and then.
