Potty training?

anyone with helpful hints? my son is turning 2 in april he knows when he goes pee and poop but doesn't understand going to use the toilet how can i get him to understand?

Answer:
Make it fun, put some fruit loops cereal in the toilet and turn it into a game. If it is fun he will put more thought into it. Dont make the mistake I did , by letting him pee on a rock, tree, or outside at all. My son had a hard time understanding why he can't pee in public. Good Luck!
Take him to the bathroom a least 2 to 4 times a day. Say to him use the bathroom. if he do. make him feel like he can do it again.
Boys usually don't get the potty thing for a while--typically around 3--one of the reasons why is that their genitalia is external. The nerve endings take longer to complete, and so they typically can't feel the need to pee. Your son might know when he is wet or uncomfortable, and knows when he needs changed. If you think he is ready to try potty training, you can try as long as you do not push it on him. Let him go at his own pace. It's very unusual for a child this young, especially a male, to be ready for potty training at this age. Again, I think he can feel when he is wet and uncomfortable, but perhaps he is not making the association between what is in his diaper AND what is causing that.
