Any other parents of kids with Epilepsy??

The children I care for (not babysitting) There are about 5 with epilepsy. Some are adults. I am a Social Service Worker and I work in group homes for mentally challenged. I am not sure what you want to know about it. Epilepsy in a defect in the neurons that are not charging and with out getting technical. the wave disturbance causes seizures. there are different types of seizures. some are petit maul and some are grande maul you can have absent seizures as well where they look like they are just not paying attention to you like they have drifted off into space. Mostly I work with grande maul and they will have violent convolusions with body jerks and loud vocals. It can get scary for them. Some are medicated with in 1 min and some are medicated not till 10 or 20 minutes. Each person will have a different protocal that will be set up by their family physician.
wnat is Epilepsy?
My son is 11 and had his first seizure about a year and a half ago. He's only had two since right after the second one they put him on anti-seizure meds and they've worked ever since. They found an abnormality on one of his tests and although they wouln't diagnose it as epilepsy they are treating it as such and are rerunning the tests again in two years hoping he'll grow out of it. Until then he is on his anti-seizure medications and they seem to keep it under control.
