18 Month Old getting spooked.?

My 18 month old is going through the usual clinginess and seperation issues for children her age. Starting this week she is getting "spooked" really easily. Lots of things are scaring her that never scared her before, including but not limited to certain toys, our pets, other people etc. Any ideas on how to calm her nerves a little?

Answer:
Best thing I can suggest is just to talk to her, when she acts frightened, ask her why she is scared. Then together sit with her in front of whatever it was that scared her and talk to her, tell her it's not scary, show her what the thing does, if it is a toy, maybe put the toy away for a while so she can't see it. If it is the pets, sit with her and talk to and pet the animals. She will outgrow this stage, it's very typical, my kids all went through it too. Well, ok I have one currently going through it. We just take one terror at a time one day at a time and eventually everything will be just fine, no more being suddenly scared. Best wishes.
Introduce her to the things that scare her. Tell her what they are and what they do and show her how they work.

Basically, show her why they aren't scary.
