How do I get my 16 month old to drink more milk? He has slowed down on milk since ditching his bottle at 14 mo
Answer:
Maybe he just doesn't like milk. Try flavoring it. They make strawberry & chocolate milk, or you can buy milk and add either the chocolate syrup or the strawberry powder.
If it's milk he doesn't want, give him more dairy products. Kids at this age love cheese. Cheese sticks, cheese and crackers, macaroni and cheese, etc. Maybe he'd like yogurt even.
try chocolate and or strawberry milk
make it more intresting. there are lots of healthy products on the market you can add to hios milk to give it a little extra flavor. Make it choclate or straawberry milk from nesquick. at night work it up to help make him sleep.
He may be lactose-intolerant. My cousin was lactose intolerant, and since she knew this (even as a small baby) she refused to drink milk. I recently developed it (2 years ago), and I don't like to drink milk either because I know I can't digest it very well.
Give him other products that contain milk, such as: pudding, milk shakes, ice cream, yogurt, and also flavored milks.
If he is eating more food he requires less milk.
I have a 14 month old. He loves his milk even in a cup, so I do not know how to help you with that. However, my Pediatrician told me that as long as my son gets plenty of daily calcium from yogurt, cheese, etc. it would not matter if he ever drinks another glass of milk.
Tip- try Pediasure or the Target brand of Pediatric drink (cheaper and tastes better). It is vanilla flavored milk with soy. It has 230mg of Calcium and my son loves the taste.
all he needs is 3 servings of dairy a day. it does not have to be milk. yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese all count as dairy servings.
I tried everything also. MY son won't drink milk at all...I tried flavoured milk, soy milk and even goats milk(he got a terrible bum rash from teh soy) so we ahve settled on yogurt drinks. I know its not the same but its the only option I have.
give him other dairy products as well...hes probably just not as interested in it as before...kids get sick of the same thing all the time
give the milk with cereal or other ways, some children just don't like milk i have 5 kids and 2 don't like it but they will have it in cereal, give a multivitamin, and don't force it , there are other ways to get the nutrients they need
Give him some of the pedisure milk from the babies isle. Maybe he will drink for of that. Try chocolate milk or strawberry milk.
