My 2 year old son is biting his nails how do i get him to stop. He won't listen when i tell him.?

Answer:
The only way to stop it is to buy the nail varnish from the chemist...i am unsure as to what it is called but sure u will get advice from staff there. The nail varish is clear so wont be noticed, and when ur son puts his fingers in mouth to bite nails, he will get a nasty taste and think twice before doing so again. If u use the varnish for a few weeks i am sure he will learn to stop it. Best of luck, to both u and ur son. Hope it goes well.
Get some stuff from the chemists and paint it on. It takes disgusting. he will stop!!
The more attention u give him the more he will do it...i bite my nails too, I have done since I was 7 now im 26...
Yeah right there with you mate.Get stuff from chemists.Worked for me!
My dad bribed me when i was little. He told me he would get me a gameboy if i stopped, and it worked! ive also heard of putting something like vinegar on the fingers so that they'll stop because of the taste.
put something horriable on the tips of his fingers
Put band-aids on his fingernails to stop the habit. Call the doctor for more techniques.
My husband does the nailbiting thing too...His mother never made him stop as a child...i could smack her...but, I told my husband I was going to put pepper under his nails...that seems to make him stop for a bit..
put hot sauce on his finger tips. Sounds cruel but this has been prooven to work!
When I was little, there was a product called Thumb. It went on like nail polish and it left the nastiest taste in my mouth. It was bitter and it burned like eating peppers. It only took a few weeks of using that stuff before I stopped biting my nails forever. I think they still sell Thumb, but if not, I'm sure there's a similar product out there.
You used to be able to buy yukky tasting stuff to paint on them from the chemist, that should do it.
paint his nails with some chemist stuff i dont really remeber what does it called but my cousin had the same problem and her mother bought that thing and it worked.
MY GRANDSON DOES THE SAME THING, THE MORE ATTENTION I GAVE HIM THE MORE HE DID IT, THEN HE EVEN STARTED ON THE TOE NAIL..WELL THAT WAS GROSS. SO I TOLD HIM WHERE THOSE FINGERS AND TOES GO ALL DAY! AND IF HE DIDN'T WASH THEM B4 HE STARTED CHEWING ON THEM, HE WAS EATING EVERYTHING THEY TOUCHED...HE DIDN'T LIKE THAT. I HAVE NOT SEEN HIM CHEW ON THEM FOR QUITE SOME TIME, I ALSO TOLD HIM IT IS UP TO MOMMY OR NAHNIE TO TRIM THEM FOR HIM!
HOPE THIS WILL HELP!
What 1 year old listens? Put that stuff on his fingers they use to stop thumb sucking...it tastes bad.
They do make stuff (I think Sally Hansen has a product) that you put on just like nail polish only it's clear and you can't even see it that tastes bitter. I would definitely talk to your pediatrician before using ANYTHING to make sure it's safe. Obviously, it's safe for adults, but since your son is only 2, better to check first. It worked for me and I was a nail biter since I can remember. I now have long nails and have since I used this product. I only used it for a few weeks (since we tend to forget when we're doing something else). Good luck!
Try to keep him busy with tactile things so his hands aren't idle. I bought nail biting polish from the store for my daughter and it didn't do any good. I don't recommend it. He'll get over it.
mustard / pepper/ salt / anything thats harmless but dont tast so good
just let him do it
they have this stuff that is like nail polish made kids that bite their nails, is taste nasy so the kid wont want to bite them
If he can go the whole day without biting any of them, he gets a sweet/treat. Every day.
dont make it a big thing of it ignore him when he does it and things should settle down.
