16 month old has been having mild fevers only at nite?

The last 2-3 nights, my 16 month old son has been having fevers. They are pretty mild and he seems normal and active during the day. His appetite for solid food has been poor, but he's also teething the top 2 molars and top canines at once. He's been nursing normal and drinking other fluids. Week before last, he was sick w/ a cold or flu for a couple of days and had a fever w/ that too. He's not acting sick and seems to have no other symptoms, though he is fussy at night when the fevers come on. Sound familiar to anyone?

I am planning to take him to a doc, but I was hoping to get more information before the appt.

TIA

Answer:
Your temperature naturally rises at night. If this continues for 72 hrs then the baby needs to be seen by the doctor. A lowgrade fever can be a sign of many things. If he had a cold recently, the congestion could have led to an ear infection.
Sounds like teething to me.

Gums hurting + swallowing too much drool makes for not wanting to eat solids

Fevers can be a side effect of teething, and crankiness
if still teething than that is all it is, unless he has too many covers on him at night..
i have gone through the same thing with one of my children(i have 4 children) take them to the doctor but it is probable teething and being sick it is very hard on them at this age motrin work best through the night and popsicles work well for the teeth and cold wash rags and plenty of fluids
deff sounds like teething to me...babies temp usually rise during later parts of the night...especially around 3 or 4 am..i would just give the baby a dose of tylenol or motrin before bed...if it lasts for too long maybe ask your doctor about it
