Why is my nine month old maybe humping his blanket?
Answer:
I am a mother to three young boys. Only one of them has done and continues to do this. Not to startle you but...he is now 5. I thought he would outgrow it by now and contrary to opinions it is something that I just accept. It started when he was about 19 months (maybe sooner but it was VERY evident at that age). I was shocked the first few times I witnessed it. Definitely don't tease him or use the word "hump" to describe his actions. I have noticed that my son will be fully dressed, pile up several blankets when he is tired and the next thing I know he's at it. I have asked him to stop but there is something soothing (not sexual) and it may just be that their hormones are overactive. He stopped doing it for a bit but has recently started doing it again. If we snicker he gets really embarrassed so we all just ignore it and eventually it ends. From one educated mother to another I am glad you asked this question. It's hard to know if our kids are the only ones out there doing unusual things, so thanks for asking.
Sounds like a seizure.
Get help, lady.
He's an early bloomer. Reminds me of myself at that age.
I guess he wants to get it on! maybe...it is human instinct!! that's tight, you can use that for justification if he ever catches you doing anything
At nine months, he's probably working his way up to a good crawl and then standing. Or, he may have an itchy penis. Babies like to rock either way. It really doesn't matter to them whether they are sitting or lying on their bellies.
And you could get your mind out of the gutter, mom.
9mo is a little early, but most children explore and do what feels good. It's nothing you did, it's likely not even what you are thinking. My son is 8.5mo and if I saw him doing something like that I would chalk it up to experimenting with crawling and moving his body, not sexual.
He humps because it feels good, ask your hubby.
Just ignore it, if you make a big deal out of it it will only get worse. If he does it in public just distract him with something more interesting.
Babies are always discovering new things about the world. Your son has just discovered that when he "humps" things it feels good, and since it feels good he continues to do it. I had a friend who's daughter used to do that as an infant.
Does your baby crawl yet? or get up on his hands and knees. Becaus the only thing I can think of that you are talking about is when they are trying to learn to crawl, or somehting. My 3 boys looked like they were doing that too sometimes, but it was because they were trying to get up and strengthen their legs and arms to crawl. They would do a rocking back and fourth motion.
Some people have no sense whatsoever.. (Lisha).. My son did the same thing at 9 mths.. It's just a normal thing.. he's probably trying to start crawling, or he's just playing around.. Don't worry about it!! Good luck to you
first of all lisha is an idiot, second he may actually be trying to learn to crawl, or he may just be doing it because he likes the bouncing my son did this at that age and his doc said it is normal even baby girls do it. i would not worry about it , althought if he is still doing it at age 2 i would talk to him about it good luck
