Give him high calorie foods and he will gain weight. If you ask his pediatrician you can get some special stuff prescribed for him to help him gain weight. Or you can just go to the drug store and buy the children's Ensure for weight gain.
well you may not like this answer but chocolate milk, lots of chocolate milk will put weight on anyone.and it still has vitamins as well..
It's hard to know what to advise without knowing about his current diet. Discuss it at length with his peditrician, and be specific about what he will and will not eat. The doctor can give you the best advice for your son.
My 2 yr old daughter also is a very picky eater, but is well rounded at a healthy weight.
My 6 yr old son wasn't a very picky eater, but was very underweight at one point he was in the 5 th percentile for weight although he was in the 75th for height, like your child he was very active.
All children are different and grow at their own rate. If he's healthy and happy, I wouldn't be too concerned about it. I was, needlessly, although my son is still thin, he has filled out slightly. Otherwise he is happy and healthy (just really active)!

Honestly, my kids never starved themselves to the point of being underwieght. They would hold out for up to 2 meals because they didn't like broccoli. Tell you what though, I stuck to my guns, and they ate it and now they all love it, prefered over corn! You might want to taste the food you are trying to get your baby to eat...it probably tastes horrible. Remember, you need to feed your baby at least 4 times a day solid foods! On top your baby should be getting 4- 6 ounce bottles or sippie cups of milk!

Put him back on formula or breastmilk (I assume breastmilk is impossible)
Formula and breastmilk are high in zinc and iron which contribute to larger heads. Maybe only one bottle a day, maybe more, your call. Keep in mind that in most parts of the world most breastfed babies are still breastfeeding at that age. And probably only getting 30-40% of their calories from solids.
Make sure you limit juice (if any at all) because it can make them feel full and prevent them from eating real meals.
Offer your toddler a choice at every meal. Do you want cheerios or oatmeal for breakfast, etc. I am not saying you have to make a whole separate meal but before you cook dinner you could ask do you want x or y even just for the veggies.
I agree with the first answer...give him high calorie food but healthy for him and suitable for an 18 month baby to eat. Give him lots of milk for strong bones and it does actually hold a lot of fat but tis healthy for you. Good luck :)
