How do i get my 16 month old son to start talking?
Answer:
Don't worry. He will start on his own. I was soooo anxious for mine to start talking too. It was what I was waiting for too. I couldn't wait to hear that little voice.
First we taught him the animal sounds. Like "moo moo moo" goes the cow. I would ask him "what does the cow say?" He would say "moo". Then I'd do duck, frog, cat, etc... Those were the first sounds he learned to make. Then we progressed into songs and other words.
I sang to mine alot and soon he started trying to sing the words. I think the first song was "You Are My Sunshine".
Every day they learn more and more. Wait until you hear "mommy I love you" for the first time! It will melt your heart!
say a word to him and keep saying it. For example say to him...SAY HELLO or any word u want him to say
My pedetrician told me to just talk to them. Constantly about anything, the sky, the birds, snow, their shoes, their toes...anything. The more you talk to them, the more encouraged they are to talk.
repeat words to him. pick up his juice and say juice like three four times and see if he says it back keep doing this and soon he will start to talk. good luck.
Isn't language aquisition funny? First, note that boys on the broad spectrum develop their language skills a bit later than girls.
Some linguists would probably say that learning to speak isn't by memorization of saying "say hello"
From experience with my 19 month old son. The DVDs of baby sesame street, elmo's world, and baby einstein have helped him a lot.
Read a book to him once or twice a day. And simply keep on having conversations with him as if he were a full fledged participant. one day he will surprise you. Good Luck.
Hi, I work in a nursery and the best advice we can give to parents is repeat, repeat, repeat!
Just repeat everything that ur child says.
Don't worry, he'll speak soon. My first child didn't talk until she was over 2 and spoke really well, really quickly, my son spoke early, but it looks like my third child is going to be a late developer. She's nearly 19 months and not saying much. My mother said I didn't speak until nearly 3 but when I did I was stringing sentences together. There's too much pressure on what your child 'should' be doing at certain ages. Don't pressure him or he'll clam up. Just enjoy and you'll be delighted when he does start speaking!
Talk to him. Things like :" look at the dog","lets have a drink" " lets ts put your shoes/coat/hat on"etc.
When he tries to say words; repeat them back to him.
Babies often just make an estimation at a word, they might say "uss" when a bus goes by, then you say "oh yes look at the bus"
Babies love songs and rhymes (they don't care if you can sing in tune)
Looking at books together can help. Choose one with thick sturdy pages so he can hold it himself.
He'll soon be chattting away. Enjoy
talk to your son
show him things!
my son is heavily into books (and hes 2) and thats how he has learnt most of his words :)
MY TWIN DAUGHTERS ARE 15 MONTHS AND HER NOT TALKING. THEY JUST STARTED TO SAY DADDY, I SANG IT TO THEM DAAAADDYYYYY. TRY IT AND GOOD LUCK. DONT WORRY
