Event sampling?

what is event sampling in the context of childcare?

Answer:
Event Sampling

During event sampling the observer records how many times a certain event takes place. For example, you might record how many times you see a child initiate contact with another child or with an adult.

My daughter and grandson participate in a research study at the local university. They use event sampling to study the kids - how many times they interact with the other children, how long and what toys they play with, etc.
