Why is it that i ask a question to get some serious answers and get ppl who have no idea what they are doing!?

you can give them thumbs-down,and you can even report

Some people are answering just for the points. You can report them if they aren't answering you.
some people answer questions to be helpful...others answer just for the points. which is dumb, because the whole point of this is to answer questions and be helpful. the points don't really matter so much for anything useful.
report them if they're giving you bullcrap answers...

Isn't that infuriating? You can report them using "Not a question or an answer" or "Gaming for points." I don't understand why people feel it helpful to answer a question with "I don't know." (Or worse ... "IDK")
Because some people think they know all about everything. What they believe to be true is not reality. Go to Renting and Real Estate and see what those knotheads think they know.

Remember that this Internet-media is open to ANY person's opinions. If there were a [SET] method to control this, then it would not be open to anyone (a key reason for it's acceptance in the global society.)
Simply accept the "risk of any "opinions" as this media offers annonymity for anyone who can reach their keypad.
AN OPTION you can take is to open your own PRIVATE chat room, where only YOU have the option to control who joins and what they say therein. I know that YAHOO is merely one Internet-access that offers this feature.

I sometimes answer questions that I do not know for sure, but I like to:
1) state that I think that it is a very good question
2) suggest ideas I have heard in the past
3) suggest websites that might be useful to the person
etc.
Ex. I may not have children, but I have read up on tons of ideas on this topic and I might suggest something useful
Of course, there are those annoying people who just answer some stupid nonrelated answer - I report those people.

Don't you just hate the people who answer "THANKS FOR THE TWO POINTS" and that's all they say?
I mean, come on, people actually need real answers here! Not just some lame excuse to get a few extra points.
Once I asked a question about how to deal with five vomiting kids and one guy said to throw a vomit party!
What the Hell are people thinking, they just waste time giving out answers that are not even worth a crap to the asker, I get so sick of it!
If toddlers are not their area of expertise, then why are they answering?
