A one year old boy can't call mommy and walk yet. Is this normal?

Answer:
It sounds normal to me, especially for a firstborn child. My son was over a year old when he did those things.
my son didn't walk until he was 18 mo old. He was delayed because of his ears & had tubes put in at 10.5 months.

If you're really worried, you need to ask his doctor
it is normal...my nephew only talk and walk when he is 1 year and a half...don't worry...if u feel unesy with this situation why don't u ask the children specialist or peadiatric doctors
Everyone learns at their own pace unless he has something physically wrong but if you're really concerned about it talk to his doctor.
He'll do it when he's ready
My son was 14 months old when he walked, the girls were a yr old, my grandson was 9 months. Some kids are just quiet, talk more later on. Get his hearing checked just to make sure.
Yes to my standards that is normal every child is different all the one year old's i've seen aren't capable of walking fully or talking
You should bring any concerns to your Pediatrician's attention. If your son can't actually say "Mama" or "Mommy" yet, but babbles; it's probably nothing to worry about. But if he doesn't babble at all, or has babbled for a while and hasn't picked up any new sounds for a long time; then I'd say you might want to have him evaluated by Early Intervention Services for a possible speech delay. Before that though, I'd rule out any hearing problems.

As far as walking goes, it's completely normal for children to start walking anywhere between 10 months and 18 months. So again, nothing to worry about, unless you are seeing milestone delays; like he's not sitting up unsupported yet or he has poor head control. That would be something to bring up at the Pediatrican's.

I know it's difficult not to compare your child with others; but it is true that all babies develop on their own schedules. I hope there is nothing 'wrong' with your son and everything works out fine. But follow your gut; it's usually not wrong.
