Whats wrong with my almost 4 year old son?

My husband & I just notice that our almost 4 yr. old son is talking wierd. He will say a sentence and after that sentence or word he would do a "mm mmm" or a "umm mmm" sound each time.
What is this? His old ped. dr. said he probably needed some speech classes but, this was way before this happen. Why is he doing this? Is it his speech or something else? I'm so worried

Answer:
Take him back to the doctor, ask for a hearing check and to have a speech pathologist test him. Don't delay waiting for someone to tell you nothing is wrong. Let someone who has been trained to do this tell you nothing is wrong. If your child is in a public school, they may have services available to do this testing for free.
ask hiom what does that "mmmm" mean. he may answer he just simply enjoy doing it as it tickles his lips, or smth. if he will have no answer, seriously gethim some speach lessons.soem kids are not able to pronounce teh sound"s", like "son" till they are 7or8. but by the time goes, they learn how to say it and teh problem disappears. but u better check it with someone who's specialized in taht so ur son would not face any kind of serious speaking probs in teh future. good luck!
do you and your husband say mmm or ummm hmmm, he maybe me mimicking you, i would ask him if he knows what it means like the other lady said... I would also take him to a speach theropist they can tell you better if he needs to be there or not..
He probably just likes to hear his voice is all.I've heard children say that right after they first start talking...probably nothing serious at all...if you are really worried contact a speech pathologist that specializes in toddlers.
get him a hearing test done?

my two year old will say umm, but after I ask her where is ..something.Its so cute. But I think your son may need a hearing test or maybe an ear infection??
I agree with the doctor. Check with a speech therapist. It might be a nervous twitch or he may simply be confused. I had a niece that needed speech therapy lessons when she was three. She confused the first and last letters. She speaks fine now. Most schools have simple classes that shouldn't cost too much. From what I've seen, they are fairly effective.
It is nothing to worry about. My 5 year old does that..He will be telling me something like this "mom at school today i done um um um um i drew a picture of a spaceship. He dosen't have a speech problem or a mental problem. It is just them being so young and i think they tend to forget what they are starting to say or forget what they were going to say next.
Good luck
Mmm or ummm sounds could mean many things. Don't always assume the worst. It could be that he is pondering a way to articulate something more, or it could be a crutch word like adults use, it could also be something he picked up from TV or peers. The worst it could be is he may be developing a stutter. If he is only 3 yrs old, there is no need to panic. Most children have some sort of speech impediment until about age 5.
have his hearing checked, maybe he hears a hum after he speaks and thinks hes supposed to add that to his sentences. good luck
yeah sonkysst. Don't freak out. Ask him to explain it. If he can't, leave it alone. Too many people run to the doctor for things that are not an issue! (think about a time when you went to a specialist that did not help you more than you could learn watching the Discovery channel).

I had the same with my now 6.5 year old boy. It took longer for his speech to develop, but he can draw and write better than most kids. Over analyzing creates the fears in the kids. Let them be themselves!
If he can talk properly through out the sentence then just adds that mmmm at the end I don't think there's anything wrong he's just playing with you. Don't stress.
