14 mos old throwing up.What do I give him?
Answer:
I'd give him some pedialyte, or try some sprite without the gas, if he dosent like the pedialyte. You may want to give him some dry toast or crakers to soothe his stomach. Make sure to encourage fluids and don't worry if he doesn't eat. However if he is not drinking and continues to vomit you have to make sure that he is peeing enough, if not you need to call your pediatrician or take him to the ER. Toddlers dehydrate fast and you don't want that to happen.
Pedialyte and Gatorade have the same thing, yet my concern is if your child has an allergic reaction to citric acid (the acid found in oranges, lemons, tomatoes, etc.). Has he ever had burning sensations or stomach aches after eating foods with citric acid?
We just went thru a bad spell of gastroenteritis (vomiting followed by diarhea). Check online to see if she has that, we live in MI, it is going around. Give you child clear fluids, you can do jello too, the first 6-12 hours after they last vomited, small amounts at a time, like a tsp every 5 minutes to start. Pedialite is good, by neither of my kids will drink it. After 6-12 hours go the the BRAT diet (banana, rice, applesauce, toast). If they do get diarhea stay away from fruit juice, it can make it worse.
Pedialite for sure! It is made especially for little bodies. They also have pedialte popsicles which little ones usually love. Make sure your baby stays hydrated and if it goes on for more than 24 hours I would call your pediatrician.
I have read many articles that say not to give your child Gatorade - it has too much sugar and not the right amounts of electrolytes and nutrients for your baby. Stick with Pedialyte, or even the generic brand of Pedialyte from your store. I don't think you need to give him any if he only threw up once (water would be fine) but more than that, he should have Pedialyte.
I say pedialite. That is what my daughter's doctor has always said to try and give her.Good Luck & God Bless !
I say a trip to the doctor's office. It might not be what grandma gave him that is causing the problem.
pedialyte- it has the essential things to rehydrate him and its best for nauseus kids
