Can anybody tell me how to get my doctor to give in?

I am 22 years old and got my very first case of strep throat at 15 and every since than I have tonsilitis at least four to five times a year and doctors will not take my tonsils out because they say they only do that to kids. Well, I'm tired of it because I have an eight month old and husband to take care of and can't do it when I'm down on the couch running fever and can't eat so therefore I'm weak and have no energy at all. I know there are adults that have this surgury done. So, I was just wondering if anyone else had the same problem and how they finally convinced their doctor?

Answer:
I would try one last time to convince your doctor, and then inform him that you will be getting a second opinion. He may change his mind then, and if not..I hope the next doctor you will will say yes!
You might try seeing another doctor for a second opinion. Best of luck!
See another doctor
I would get a second opinion, although he may be reluctant to remove your tonsils because from what I've heard it is much more complicated when you are older. I mean, recovery time etc...
You might try an ear nose and throat specilaist or a different M. D. for a 2nd opinion. Sometimes your Dr. is wrong, if you get the same answer from 1 or 2 others then you can rest assured your Dr is giving you good advice.
Find another doctor. If it's a chronic problem, it needs to be taken care of. Explain to the new doctor that it's interfering with your quality of life.
That is crazy u are paying him---- he needs to take ur tonsils out asap.that doctor obviously doesn't use very good judgment when he is treating his patience. I would see someone else, you have that right.
Usually when a Dr says no, he believes that surgery is not in your best interest. Try seeing another Dr. Trying to make a Dr'give in' is insulting and he will not appreciate being told what to do, you know the whole 'God complex?' Go to another Dr explain your situation and let him know what your other Dr said, he may do it just to beat the other one.
Maybe it's time to find a new doctor. My sister had 3 cases of strep in one year and the doctors removed them. She was 20 when she had them out. Good luck hope things get better!
A coworker of mine had hers out a 28, so it is possible. Get another opinion and take with you a copy of your past infections from your doctor.
I had the same thing happen to me I too am 22 and just had mine out a year ago after pleading with i think like the fifth doctor i had seen I finally gave up and went to and ear nose and throat specialist and he finally gave the OK to the procedure maybe you should to the same thing..
If your insurance allows, I would skip the family doctor all together and see a specialist. Visit an ENT (ear, nose and throat) doctor. It is very common for adults to have tonsillectomies.
I'd get a second opinion. How about seeing a specialist like an ENT (ears, nose, & throat)
