My 2 year old has cough and cold.?
Answer:
My son had asthma with alot of colds.depending on what kind of humidifier it is...sometimes it can make it worse...you my need a dehumidifier.that is what my pediatrician said...if you can try to pat him on his back around his lung area...so that the cold doesn't settle in his lungs...keep his nose sucked out with that sucker thing...maybe try tylenol/ibuprofen/motrin (toddler kind of coucrse)
My pediatrician also said to take him in the bathroom and let the shower run on steeming hot and hold him (not in the shower of course) to let him breathe that in for like 5 minutes.
hope this helps
I also found that johnson and johnson makes a vapor menthol rub...for babies...that helped when I put it on his chest.and I agree with the first comment...make sure when he sleeping that he is propped up so the drainage can come out...and he can breathe better
A humidifier would be wonderful and help tons. Also, when he's sleeping make sure he's propped up and not just laying flat on his back. Roll up a towel and put it under the end of his mattress where his head goes so he is propped up.
maybe you should just take him to the dr...
sounds like he needs to be prop up. get some pillows and get his shoulders up this will help not have things drain and get stuck in there throat.
I'm just posting to second the first poster's advice. A humidifier and propping your son up will probably help a lot with night coughing. If the cough continues for more than 5-6 days or seems really bad (like he's coughing stuff up) then call your pediatrician. If at ANY time you are concerned about his ability to breathe then RUN don't walk, to the nearest emergency department.
I agree with propping up it works in hospice
My daughter frequently has the same, a humidifier helps, I like the warm mist kind, even though some don't recommend it, you can add vicks to the water too. You should try to prop him up too, my daughter sleeps on a full size pillow to help her stay propped up. You should call your doctor too, it could be allergies or something more serious.
A humidifer whould help...My son has asthma and lost of mucus issues I have found that Childrens Mucinex is WOUNDERFUL!! It has help the cough tremedusly!
