When should I stop giving my child formula for the night time feed?
Answer:
At 20 mos she no longer requires it, however if you want to continue to give it to her it won't hurt her. She should be getting all the nutrients that she needs through the foods that she eats during the day. But I understand the "just to make sure" frame of mind. I tend to hold off on quiting formula also. It is solely up to you. No worries you just do what you feel is right.
After the first year babies don't need formula. She should only be drinking cows milk or soy milk at her age. She should be getting enough protein, iron, vitamins and minerals from the cow's milk and solid food that she is eating.
at 20 months she should be getting all the nutrients from solids and cows milk, so formula is not required. if you have questions, the best person to talk to would your child health nurse or GP.
Formula is not needed once they reach a year old. By now she should be eating regular table food.
Stop giving formula when she's 18months. You still need to let her drink milk before sleeping. Find milk in groceries that are appropriate for her.
