For moms of 18-month-olds only?

My toddler got a cold last Thursday- just a stuffy nose and cough- no fever. We are supposed to go to a Mom and Tot class this morning. He still sounds a little stuffy and coughs occasionally but is in good spirits. You can still tell that he has a cold though. What is the ettiquette- is it rude to bring him to the class in case he is still contagious? I'd really hate to miss it because it's only once per week and great socialization for him since he has no siblings. How would you feel if a child wiht a mild cold was at your child's class?

Answer:
I say if there is no fever and he's acting like he's not sick, go to class. If my kids stayed home whenever they had coughs, we'd never leave the house. I try to keep my kids away when they have a fever, are acting sick, or have really drippy noses.
My son is not quite 18 months yet, but is close, so I am going to give you the best answer...When it doubt, stay home!

If there are toys that will be passed around, surfaces that you or your child may touch that will later be touched by other parents or children, or any possibility of contact with your child's germs, from the child himself or you, you need to think of the other parents.

I understand not wanting to miss a class, but you'll feel terrible if you go, and next week, the entire class is out sick.

Additionally, if he is already sick, your son's immune system may be busy fighting off the cold he already has, and thus, will be more susceptible to germs from other children.

For the sake of the other children and parents involved, as well as the wellbeing of your own child, stay home this week and rejoin the class next week.

Good Luck!
Stay at home. Your baby's health is more important than taking him out and getting him sicker.
I would stay home. I never like taken my son out when he is sick to give to other kids. You know u hate when a mother brings a sick kid around urs. Hope he feels better soon.
He is still contagious.
I would suggest not taking him to class for a few reasons. One is that his resistance is lower now so he can catch something else.( that actually happened to my 17 month old) The other is that even if he did catch something there he could spread it back to another child and keep it passing.
We used to have children come into the class who should have not been in class. Occasionally , we had to call to have them picked up.
My son is 20-months old. My advice is: If it is not a fever, go to the meeting. If you have some doubt, it is better to stay at home. Other children could be infected. Be carefull with your child and with onother.
I am in that same situation. I have a weekly class I bring my son to and he loves it as well. He has been sick a few times already this Fall. I have not brought him to the class even though he was he regular old happy self, such as your child. I wouldn't want to subject myself to the potential of making the other mothers uncomfortable by exposing my seemingly ok but sick son to the other children in the class and I would hope that the other moms would do the same if their child was sick. Other things you could do in lieu of the class when your baby is better is bring them to a playground where there are lots of other children to romp and play.
I say if there is no fever, vomiting or diarrhea you can go.. kids are always snotty or putting things in their mouths. Hopefully moms are washing their kids hands before/after social situations.
If kids couldn't go out when they have stuffy noses or coughing they would all be quarantined to their homes for the entire winter.
