How do you potty train a two year old in one day?

You can NOT make a child potty train. You have to wait for them to be ready. I am the mom of 5.4 of which are potty trained. My older 2 are girls and potty trained by 2yrs and within one week were fully trained day & night. On the other hand, my younger 3 are boys, 5, 3, 1. The five year old didn't want anything to do with the potty until he was almost 4...and he still wears a pull-up at night b/c he is a very sound sleeper and doesn't wake up to go in the night. My 3 year old decided this past summer, at about age 2 3/4.that he would train himself! He usually wakes up dry, but does still wear the pull up too. The one year old it too young, but he has already started being interested in what his brothers do in the bathroom and will come to me when he is messy and want changed..so I'm thinking that by next summer we may be trying the potty thing.when it's warm and he can run around in underwear!
But trust an 'old hand'.you can't make your child potty train...he will let you know. You can put big boy underwear on and see what happens...if he's ready, he will do it.
Best of luck to you..Oh and I always just put my kids in big kid underwear.none of the pull up stuff for training - they only enable accidents and don't show them about wetting their pants and how uncomfortable it is...I only use pull ups at night to save on laundry!

in one day? I don;t think you can. I have only potty trained girls, and both of them pretty much did it themselves. With number 1 and took her diapers away and let her wet herself until she got the idea that she didn;t like being wet and changing her clothes all the time, it took about 2 weeks. With number 2 we were a little more lenient with diaper use and her grandma helped alot...it took her 3 months to be completely potty trained thru the night and everything.
i doubt you can do it in one day!! my daughter just turned 2 and I been trying to potty train her for about 4 months now and its not really getting anywhere. it takes time for a child to learn to use the potty, give your son some time. introduce him to the potty and go from there
Potty-training in one day will have disastrous results. I think the person who wrote this book was only out to make some money. Putting pressure on your child will cause him to be ashamed of himself if he can't do what is expected. Slow down, there's no need to hurry. This child will have enough pressure on him when he grows up.
Find a reward that suits your child (stickers, new underwear with a fav character, matchbox cars etc.) make a chart and after so many stickers for using potty give a bigger award (say at 20 stickers) then just keep encouraging. It will more than likely take more than a day. Be patient and dont punish or get discouraged if theres accidents.
its pretty hard actually. one i reaad said sit them on the potty fill them full of crackers and juice...ugh
what worked for us in fast potty training was to leave the kid bare butt or regular underwear on. give them lots to drink, take them to the potty every 30-45 mins and have them sit for 5. don't force them though or you can create an aversion.
to be perfectly honest though, most boys don't potty train till 2 1/2 or 3 yrs. they aren't usually emotionally mature enough prior to that.
I think 1 day would be a bit traumatic for a 2 year old. My 2 year old boy was trained in about a week or so. It takes a repetitive consistency for a 2 year old to learn new things. The key is being consistant. Don't go back and forth, that will just confuse him. We just took off the diapers/pullups except for naptime and bed time and he didn't like being wet so he went to the potty. Good Luck!
It would be hard. Try taking him with you when you go and take off the diaper and show him how to do it. Every half hour, take him in to try. When there is even a little success, go overboard to let him know that's what you want him to do. good luck. Reward good potty behavior. Put on "big boy pants" and say he can wear them as long as he stays dry. If he wets, put on the diaper for half an hour. Try to potty again and put the big boy pants on again. Good Luck
Ok, here it is, it might take one to two days, but it is possible, It is called the Naked Method, and I used it on both my boys. They love to be naked as it is, so I simply took off the pullup and let them be naked. We had maybe 2 accidents at the most, and within one to two days they were potty trained. But you have to keep in mind they were ready. Both had been asking me to go potty for a while, and I had been letting them go before baths and showers. But trust me, it really does work!
It will take more than one day to potty train a 2 year old. my daughter took longer then my son. You can not put too much pressure on a child when it comes to that. Is has to take its course. My son learn faster because me husband would try to take him every time but still took time for him to learn.

just explain it and show him how and try to convince him its like a diaper only cooler and that all the "big kids" do it. i did this with my second child and now im pregnant with my third, im gonna use that method again. but it took me about 4 days to train him completley (BTW give him diapers at night!!)
NOT in one day, babies have a mind of their own and your two year old will be potty trained when he/she decides its time.
You probably have to potty train him for a couple weeks or so..

The majority of 2 years olds are not ready to be potty trained. And, boys tend to take longer to train then girls ( I have 2 boys and 1 girl...been there, done that). All 3 of my kids were completely trained by 3 1/2. I have a friend who tried to train their 2 year old and the child would just go whever they were because they weren't ready. You can try, but if it doesn't work out you have to ask yourself if you would rather clean messes off the floor, couch, bed...or change a dirty diaper.

Haven't gotten to this stage with mine.
But my mom potty trained both me and my sister in one day with the naked method.
She let us run around outside, and put one of those kid portable potties out there. She told us what the deal was. By the end of the day we were both using the portable potty. She moved the portable potty into the bathroom and we both used it until we moved to the big one the next day without her having to do anything.
This is my plan for my little one when she gets there.
There is no easy way it is up to the child himself ,there are children that can be potty train at two year old and it does not happen in one day. who ever told you is not someone that knows about children. please take your time with your child do not worry about the why and do think there is anything wore with your child and do not look to why your friend child is potty train,because each child is his own person. Books to me are a wast of time pat ions and understand will do the work.

You can't toilet train a toddler in one day. Anyone who says you can is lying. I have worked with toddlers for 14 years, and had two of my own. It is a long process that begins with the first signs of readiness. Is your toddler interested in the potty? Can he pull down his pants alone? Does he tell you when he is wet? Does he "go" on a particular schedule? Can he stay dry for two hour periods, such as during nap time? He has to be able to do these things first, before you can start potty training. There are many cognitive skills that a toddler must achieve before they are ready to toilet train. Then, start taking him on a consistent schedule to the potty, such as when he gets up, before morning snack, at lunch, before and after a nap, and before bed time. This will take a lot of patience and consistency on your part. I call this, the "parent habit training time", because you are getting yourself in the habit of taking him potty all the time. Have him sit for a few minutes on a little, child-sized potty. The regular adult potty is usually a little too scary, since they don't have the security of keeping their feet on the ground. If he goes, great! If not, encourage him to sit for a few minutes by having some books available to look at. If he still doesn't go after a few minutes, say, "Great trying!" and help him get up and pull up his pants. You want to encourage him to go potty, so don't scold if it just won't "come out". You want to make this a fun time. I also recommend for little boys that are just learning to use the potty, that they start by sitting down, with the little shield thing on the potty to help. Little guys have a hard time standing and concentrating on getting it in the bowl, so the less mess, the better, I say! Have him sit until he gets the hang of going consistently, then you can teach him to stand. This process will take a while... the average potty training takes between 4-8 months, depending on the child's readiness.
