Why does my 4 year old think that he has to change his undies every time he has to go potty?

They are not dirty...I can't figure out why he does this..Any ideas?

Answer:
lol my 4 year old daughter does this..it goes back to the diapies. He remebers. Just let him. Keep a stack by the potty and let him change em. When he changes...put the ones he just took off at the bottem of the pile. My daughter remebers the exact ones she had on and will cry if I try to get her to put on ones that look the same : ) totally normal...kids are just strange
Is he thinking back to when he wore diapers?
Because he had is diaper changed every time he went potty. It is normal and he will outgrow it. Just let him do it and don't make a big deal. He is still wanting to figure things out for himself.

Plus, sometimes it is a good way to get to wear all his cool new underwear in one day. Kids get crazy about wanting to wear every pair because they have their favorite characters on them.
Maybe he saw Blues Clues do it
Maybe he is associating them with a diaper. Whenever he went in a diaper you changed it.so maybe he thinks when he goes in the toilet he should be changed as well.
Does he have a younger sibling who gets a diaper change after each "potty" incident?
It's a phase he/she is going through ..
I am told i was the same ,between the age of 2 and 3 but came out of it pretty much quick..
Mine was because i pooed in them a few times while i was training to stop using diapers nappy's and use pants...
