My 15 month old daughter has a stomach virus, help!!!?
Answer:
6 days sounds like wayyy too long to have a simple stomach virus. Does she have a fever or any other symptoms? She could have an infection- sometimes strept throat causes stomach problems. I would take her to another pediatrician to make sure its nothing more serious. In the meantime try saltine crackers, rice, plain tea, plain pasta and keep up the pedalyte and gatorade! Some ginger ale is always good too!
Start with small amounts of yogurt. It's not only good and nutritious, but it also has the kinds of bacterial culture that are dpleted in her sysytem (like Acidophulus). The best kind is Dannon Fruit in the bottom in whatever flavor she likes. It's going to open her appetite back up.
then move into small meals of noodles and rice.
chicken soup will make her want to drink don't go overboard though it's high in sodium, jello is fun for kids!!
I would say until she is done vomitting she is not going to want to eat very much. The ideas for food above are great. Also 6 days of this seems a bit much for a 15 month old, do you have a Childrens Hospital near your home? If so I would consider taking your daughter to their ER, I have gone to ours quite a bit, they are very helpful . Childrens hospital of Michigan even has a 24 hour RN nurse line that is extremlly helpfull for when to take your child in as well as ideas for making your child feel better. Good Luck, Hope she feels better
give it time cook hr fav thing and give her small portions wait 20mins then give her some more
very frustrating but it should work both mine had it one after another fun!!!
you go back to the hospital and tell them to take care of ur daughter NOW!... it is impossible for them to say there is no cure for her... they have to do something... samething happen to my neice and the hospital took her in.. im not quite sure what happend but i know she stayed there and is alright now... dont take no for an answer! make them do something .. I am also a person w/ stomach problems... and because of that i get stomach virus quite often... but why does my dr give me medications to cure me?... if its possible for me .. then its possible for ur child...
try getting her to eat things like jello, or pudding, soft things that you dont have to chew, get her to drink milk and keep her hydrated try to get her to eat food the flu should go away soon and then go get her vaccs asap
My daughter just had a stomache virus, as well. And before that, she had a virus that caused blisters in her mouth and down her throat so she went days without eating any real food. What did work for her, though, was chamomile tea. Add some sugar to make it sweet and it should open up her appetite a little bit. Soup is also good, but don't force her to eat it. As long as she's not dehydrated, she'll be okay. And what the doctor told me that would definitely get rid of the virus, was if she pooped it out herself. So give her orange juice with pulp, and if that doesn't work, try putting a suppository. The sooner she gets the virus out of her system, the sooner she'll be able to eat. Best of luck.
My son had the rota virus when he was 9 months, it lasted a week and there is nothing they can do for them. my son eventually had to be hospitalized for dehydration because he wasn't drinking anything. they recommended jello, Popsicles, cranberry juice, pedialyte. remember no apple or grape juice for sure. She will be fine as long as she is drinking. try bananas too, they help with diarrhea. luckily if this is what she has, they have a vaccine out for it for little babies to prevent it, i know this doesn't help you now but for your next child it will.
give her warm jello water don't Mix it too strong it will coat her stomach it is also good to break fever with
i am a childcare provider. And the stomach virus is going around. There really is nothing you can do. We have had several toddlers with this. Takes them a few days to get there eating habits back up. Just make sure she gets lots of fluids.
HANG IN THERE IT WILL GET BETTER!
Try putting her on an all liquid diet for 24 hours. This can be soup broth, jello, applesauce {as it is 90%water} Clear fluids Like ginger ale apple juice and water. Pedyalight is great to. This will help with her stomach. Then when you have done this try offering small amounts of foods like yogurt, oatmeal, rice cereal with applesauce or a bit of jam, Anything that is easy to digest as heavy foods will set off her stomach.Slowly work her back up.She may only eat a bite or 2 but that's OK. The better she feels the more she will eat.Good luck to you.
