Has anyone ever used an electric toothbrush on a toddler?

My son is going to be two in March. He likes getting his teeth brushed, but he easily gets impatient. An electric brush would be quicker! I feel my teeth are cleaner with an electric brush (he enjoys watching me brush with my electric brush) as opposed to a manual. Wouldn't it make sense to have one for a two year old for maximum clean? I looked at Target, and they said minimum age to be 3 years. Anyone done this with success?

Answer:
When my son was two, he had his own electric toothbrush. He loved it because spongebob was on it. I don't see anything wrong with it.
Iam sure you can use it on a 2 year old. Electric brushes have heads that can come off and pose choking hazzards, because of that the magical age is three.
I have done this my son is 2 he holds the electric toothbrush and he seems to be fine.
Obviously he doesnt clean them as well as we do

I havent noticed any problems
Give it a try
My daughter is 20 months old and I have been using an Electric Brush on here for about 4 months. She loves it, ad she really likes to push the button to make it go. They have children's brushes...my daughter uses a Disney Princess one. There is no harm in using a brush that they say is for 3 years plus. He has teeth, aftr all, and the teeth won't change between now and when he turns 3...
My 3yr old has an electric toothbrush. She doesn't always turns it on, I leave that up to her. It can sometimes be scary to little ones so be prepared if he gets frightened. YOu never know until you try. Good luck.
Yeah... go for it, they love it. And actually brush longer because it "tickles". I think that if he is supervised, then it shouldn't be an issue.
my son loves his electric toothbrush.. the vibrations just kill him. And he is an avid teeth brusher.. he loves to brush his teeth all the time.. even when we don't brush our teeth. So that is great for him. I don't know if a dentist would recommend it.. but my son loves it and he is 19 months
i would wait. damage to the gum of your toddler can be very dangerous. an electric toothbrush may be too harsh and cut the gum. use a toothbrush that it meant for toddlers and try making it a game while brushing to ease your toddlers suffering
All but two of my kids have electric toothbrushes.

The only reason is one of them is only 2 months old. The other one is just scared of it, so she uses her my little pony toothbrush.
My daughter also has an electric toothbrush. She's been using them since around one year old when I started brushing her teeth.
I got one for my little one when she was 17 months or so and she loved it. Although she really wouldn't brush her teeth she would just bite on the tooth brush to feel the vibrations. I use a manual one because we were having a tough time getting her to brush with the electric one. Now she lets us brush them as long as she can use a cup and spit.
no, no, no, no! you'll rip the kid's gums apart! just work on keeping the child focused
try it see what happens.
