Children got chicken pox someone said bath them in washing up liquid to stop sratching any other hints?

Answer:
goto walmart and pic up the stuff they have for it.
lots of calamine lotion, i wouldn't use washing up liquid
Oatmeal baths and camamile lotion are the best ideas. My mother tied mittens on us when we had them. She also put socks over our hands while we slept so we didn't scratch in the night.
Keep their minds busy.
calomine lotion is best for the itch.

not to sure about the washing up liquid though x
Never heard that one before..!? Just try calamine lotion in the bath and rubbed onto skin, you could try vinegar in the bath as the acidity kills the itchyness of the spots...x
Soak in a bath of plain old oatmeal. Calamine lotion (the pink stuff) on each sore will also take away the itching until it rubs off.
calamine lotion is also supposed to help soothe the itching.
Use Calamine lotion, just dab it on & this will soothe the itching.
I DO NOT THINK THAT IS A GOOD IDEA AS THE SOAP WILL MAKE THEM ITCH MORE, I PUT SURGICAL SPIRIT ON MINE WHEN THEY HAD IT,AS MY DAUGHTER HATED THE CHAMOMILE LOTION.
Lifebuoy Soap. You know that red coloured one.
It definitely helps and is also renowned for clearing Eczema up also! (although few people know this so pass it on)!
Calamine lotion! I had chicken pox at this time of year, they were there on Christmas Eve and gone the next day, Christmas Day! That was a good Christmas present an end to the itching!
There is a product called Aveeno for the bath. It has colloidal oatmeal stuff in it that sooothes the itching away. It's very good.
It is a powder and does not make your bath a mess of gruel.
My doctor told me to bathe in potassium permanganate crystals(from the pharmacy) They are good for itchy athletes foot also .
another good way is camomile tea bags put 3 or 4 in the bathtub and let the child sit in that its reduces the temp it is also a natural anti oxidant
then if they can stand the taste a cup of camomile tea before bed to keep the temp down and aid sleep :)
Chickweed - works like magic. Make a very strong tea with the herb, and pour into the bath. The more the better. Oatmeal can also help - tie some into a sock, and place in the bath. The homeopathic remedy Rhus Tox can help too.
Please don't use washing up liquid! It's not designed for the skin. Calamine lotion after teh bath is your best bet.
Oatmeal bath and calamine lotion works everytime.
Please don't use washing up liquid on your children!
yes use calamine lotion.
oatmeal bath
bathing them in warm water will make the spots come out faster , putting baking soda in the water will help ease the itch, calamine lotion is also good for relieving itch.
Use sodium bicoarbonate in the bath - you can buy it in the chemist. My Dr reccommened it when my kids had chicken pox and it really really helped them. Both kids kept asking to get in the bath as they found it so soothing.
A cool bath, pat them dry and apply lots of Calomine Lotion. I've never heard of bathing children in washing up liquid. Surely that can't be good for the skin. Take a look at your own hands when you've finished the washing up.
I have never heard of bathing in washing up liquid!! Washing up liquid is a harsh soap and I reckon it would create even more itchiness when dried. The best result for the itch is calomine lotion, which can be bought at the chemist. A definate soother for the bath would be to soak four redbush tea bags in a bath of water! No soap!
My wee one has just got over a nasty bout of chicken pox, I used a cream called eurax - worked a treat!
When both my kids had chicken pox. I spoke to a nurse, she advised me to put some porridge into a tight (a new one). then but it into a bath of running water. There is natural histamines in porridge and it does work
Goodness I wouldnt put washing up liquid on them. I have to agree with all the other mothers, calamine lotion is your best bet.
In the bath you could add a few drops of lavender and tea tree oil. Both antibacterial and the lavender is soothing.
I put this in the bath when my little one is out of sorts.
Put a spoonful of bicarbonate of soda in your childs bath . It is no longer recommended to use calamine lotion anymore as it blocks the spots and causes infection . For the itch you could give your child piriton an anti-histamine medicine .. I did all of the above when my kids had chicken pox ..
who on earth told you that ??

have they got children ??
oatmeal in the bath helps, aveeno makes it
That will dry their skin out try Aveno Oatmeal bath & Liquid Benedryl.
