Whats the best way to teach a small child music?

I want to teach my 4 and 2 year old daughters guitar and piano what is the best approach

Answer:
I am not musically inclined but my kids are if you want them to learn don't force it on them but make sure that they are around it and if they have an interest in it nurture it. If they show no interest move on. Don't get bent on something you want them to do let them do what they want for all you know you could have a couple of math or science geniuses on your hands.
that's great! i'm really glad to hear a parent who wants to give the gift of music:D
mmm...i suggest a private teacher. might be pricey but...hey, worth it! when the kids are teenagers they can be playing in clubs or downtown like i do:D
xao
congratulations:D
a good parent!
We bought my 18 month old a fisher price piano and she loves to "play" it. I think the biggest thing with a 2 year old is to make sure they have the interest in music first, or they will show their stubborn side (believe me every kid has one!! lol) and let you know they don't want to do that!
My 2 year old can already play jingle bells and nothing else maters on the guitar, the electric one of course.
You just have to be consistent and do it everyday, plus my child is a prodigy.
