My sister is trying to concieve but can't but still gets her period..Whats wrong?

My sister is 20 and she has been trying for about 5 months to have her first child with her husband but for some reason she's not getting pregnant..She also told me they atleast have intercouse 6 or 7 times a month to make it a better chance does that help them?..

Answer:
It's not uncommon for it to take up to a year for a couple to successfully become pregnant. This does not mean they have fertility problems. Sometimes it just takes that long for things to click.

The number of times you have sex a month is not as important as knowing WHEN to have sex to optimize the chances of conceiving. Your sister should start charting her cycles (having irregular periods can hamper fertility) so that she knows when she's ovulating. In a normal 28-day cycle, that's day 14. But it can happen sooner or later depending on the woman and her actual cycle. Ovulation tests can be helpful in determining this.

Having sex every day from day 10-17 after her period will really help things out. If she does not conceive within a year, she should see a doctor. He/she will be able to find the source of their fertility problems and recommend a proper treatment.

Hope this helps! =)
If they have been trying for that long. Your sister should speak to her doctor and he should be checked out too...
It seems like your sister just might need a little guidance on when to time intercourse. It's good that she's having regular periods; that means things are functioning. I think the best book for trying to conceive is "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. This book describes how to keep track of your cycles on a calendar and to look for signs of when you're most fertile, including basal body temperature changes, cervical mucous, etc. It also describes when to time intercourse (every other day for approx. days 10-18 of the cycle, if its 28-30 dayslong). At her age (20), she should be able to get pregnant within 6 months. If not, then its time to see a Dr. for some tests to see if something might be wrong.
